Headlight Washer Cover

Featured Replies

I know this is a really silly little thing and it's not that expensive but, my drivers side headlight washer cover fell off today and it's irritated me! £15 to replace something that shouldn't just fall off because it cba to hold on anymore! Grrrr!

Rant over. lol!

On a lighter note, does anyone know if there's anywhere that I can purchase one from already in race blue rather than having to pay Skoda to get it sprayed?!

You are lucky if this is the first time for you. On my Octy I lose both side covers usually once a year. The price of the plastic cover here in croatia is less than 10eur + spraying.

I dont know why this happens. The plastic clips are too weak.

It is the first time it's happened to me, but I've only owned the car since August, so that is about the same as you so far! It's not much to replace, I just don't think it's something I should have to replace, if you know what I mean.

Ah well!

Skoda dealer will be able to sell you a can of spray paint for far less than they charge to spray it for you.

They're easy enough to fit.

Bloody hell mate, I got a couple off eGay for 7 quid...... :o

I bought a race blue spray can and Lacquer for about £10. Sprayed myself. 2 coats of each a few hours between coats. Cover is now on car and can't tell the difference. It's not worth getting it professionally done as its only the size of a credit card.

Just as a point, make sure your screenwash is at a decent winter concentration.

Sometimes with cold weather, the route to the headlamp washers can freeze up, then when the solution finally gets through there's been a build-up of pressure and the covers can fly off then.

just happened to me. bought 2 off ebay for 6pounds each. they come in black as standard. ive got a red vrs and not painted them left them black. actually looks ok with the black of the grille. just a bit different than the norm. it was a bugbear of mine to have to paint them but it does look ok in black.

Never had this happen i four years, but i'm glad my car's black by the sounds of it! :giggle:
