mdi socket

Featured Replies

I have gone for the Yeti elegance 170 with a few extras ie the 12 speaker option as one so could any one tell me is th MDI socket standard on this build or is it an extra as i could not find it in the extras list.

After thought I found out you can extend the warrenty for 2 more years for £640 is this a good deal??

There is a plug in Aux socket but all this is a headphone type one with a double ended lead.

if you look here http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/221227-retrofit-mdi-to-yeti/ there have been some options but by far the best is to do a retrofit and thats what ill be doing soon once my bluetooth and mdi kits arrive and will be coding them in to go with my new retrofitted columbus system.

Not standard

Not currently an option!

Some of us do have it by sourcing it ourselves and fitting it. may require some coding.

Think in terms of £150-£200

Worth it for me (my car's a 'keeper')

€ 111 from car systems in poland where i have ordered my stuff from

Hmmm That kit looks very tempting I have to say.................

Merlinman: are those the correct part numbers and is that all one would need? Also does this cable power the iPhone when it is plugged in?

Those componnts appear the same as mine although the seller is different and the price slightly better :'(

It is a straight fit although it will require a VCDS entry to enable it-so "plug and no play" until someone tells the system to emulate AUdi/Vw. It does charge an iPod and should therefore charge an iPhone. I will check with mine if you wish.

This is why the failure of Skoda UK to offer this as an option is so pathetic. Now I understand that Skoda UK is, in effect, a virtual entity outsourced to Crapita it is entirely understandable.

My MDI is hooked up to a 4th gen Nano which has just sat in the glove box working whenever called upon for about 10months.

the reason I haven't tried theiPhone is that it lives in my pocket and seamlesly connects and disconnects from the Bluetooth. It is too precious and pristine to want to leave it in the glovebox.

Johann - that's all you need plus a session with Gizmo :)

[offtopic on]Is the lead provided? Or just the aux socket, no cable?[offtopic off]

So Merlinman you know how I "loved" putting the LED DRLs in... so this looks like a plug-and-play job (apart from the Gizmo visit)? I still want to see the screen of my iPhone should someone call me etc so I'm happy with the European position of the cable in the tray ahead of the gear lever. So all I need do is make a hole in said tray and fix the socket there? The rest of the gubbins goes behind that connecting to the back of the radio (into the CD changer slot?) and job's done?

I have the actual MDI box sitting on top of the glovebox insert with the lead fed into the glove box - I see no reason why you couldn't put the MDI unit at the back of the gear lever tray with the lead exiting there?

There are leads for MDI > Ipod, MDI > USB, MDI > Phono Jack - all about £15.

The Kufatec MDI lead fits directly into the back of the Bolero/Columbus as a 'sandwich'.

Once you've got the head unit out it's a very quick job!

These notes may help?

PS - won't you 'see' who's calling you on the Bolero/MFD?

DOH!

Indeed............. [blush]

BUT I also use the phone to record GPS tracks via MotionX and other things on the go...... so don't really want it in the glovebox, but see your point.

The links helped thanks.
