Symphony AUX input?

Featured Replies

Is there a kit or anything that can be used with the standard VRS Symphony stereo that will allow an aux input from an MP3 player or phone (NOT Ipod or Iphone)?

Cheers guys

I just used to use one of those cassette things in the tape player

Says you can't use your cd changer with them so guessing it uses that port. Just a note for you!

Yes alot of them out there you have to use the CD changer plug for the MP3/iPod input. Its the same situation with my MK2 Stream MP3.

What about if I was to install a Parrot Bluetooth kit (MKI9000/91000/92000)? Do they also use that port? Or do they only use their internal amp and piggyback the speakers?

I recently fitted a Connects 2 SD/USB/Aux Input adaptor to the Symphony unit on my MkI - expect to pay about £60 on Ebay

The adaptor connects to the headunit via the "Blue" socket at the rear which is where the CD changer in the boot originally connects to. There is a second port as part of the kit. I did try hooking up the CD changer to this, however the Adaptor and the CD changer input to work together (As soon as you change the input it will revert to the CD changer).

With that said, the lack of CD changer is of no great loss to me as i dont really use CD's, also i think the audio quality is MUCH better since moving to SD Card input. Has made me wonder if the complaints about issues with the quality of the Symphony's output maybe has more to do with the CD Changer than the Headunit?

Cheers

Yeh i have considered just dropping the CD changer, and you're right - it would be no great loss.

However, the only thing I use for music is my phone, but I also get a lot of phone calls whilst driving so the Parrot kit would do me well here. I'm just wondering how exactly the kit is wired up, and whether you would loose functionality and/or wuality by streaming music that way.

Just found out a bit more - Does the symphony have "Line-In"? (Is this the same as AUX?)

So... could I loose the CD changer and install the kits mentioned above, and then install the parrot using this line in?

Thought the parrot kits plug into the speaker socket?

From what i understand, they just use the speakers as a slave, and mute the stereo. They have an internal amplifier in order to also use the speakers for the streamed music.

If you use the line-out from the parrot BT kit, then you get a fully fledged audio integration (for music only) to the head-unit.

As the Symphony does not have a receiving Line-In, this is currently not an option.

However, my current thinking is to ditch the CD changer for an after-market Line-In, and use THIS for the line-out of the Parrot.

Can anyone see any major issues here?

Got ya now lol. Can't see owt wrong with it working, won't know unless you try lol.

Won't it be easier and may be cheaper to get a new headunit?
