Stopped today for no road tax.

Featured Replies

Well I have no issue with cops. Anytime I've been stopped they've treated me as I've treated them.

if you tax online the database update is almost instantaneous, however if you tax at a post office its very different.

The hand filled forms need to be sent via the postal system to the DVLA, and then they are manually entered by hand onto the computer system. Due to the number of cars on the road this can take sometime to complete, especially around the time of plate changes.

I always tax online and have never been stopped for no tax, the last time I was stopped was more than 15 years ago as I was leaving work at 2am.

Fixed that for you ;)

Usually now, yes. Why? Do we have an issue with this? emoticon-0114-dull.gif

I have access to 3 vehicles, and generally use the van for the mostly local running around in the winter, and come the summer when I'm out and about a bit more, the 'fun' car comes out.

Keeps the milage down, and reduces the road tax effectively too.

The Fabia doesn't get put away and wrapped up in a heated blanket. It sits on the path and is started up and washed and polished regulary.

I intend keeping it for the long term, as I've yet to see a replacement that can do and offer what the vRS does for me.

It was an absolute pleasure to drive it again this week, and still puts a smile on my face after 6 years of ownership.

Usually off the road for 4 or 5 months, sorn'd.

Thought I was the only one. Although mine is undercover, heated and under a blanket. :giggle:

Holy cow ! A policeman actually apologised to you - considered yourself honoured !
Evidently a one off. Even said good morning to me with a smile on his face, you know, the best way to introduce your self rather than thumbs tucked into flak jacket with a stern look and scowl and puffed up swagger..

I have only ever been pulled over once and that was supposed to be for 'No Insurance'.

I could understand really a 17 year old in a brand new Honda Civic Type R EP3 (Final Edition) - Probably thought it was stolen. It was a shame that I had the insurance documents scanned and sat in the car with me.

Funny part was, I served the female officer that same say in the petrol station where I used to work. When she asked why I was out so late a response of 'Leaving Work' prompted the strange question of 'Where do you work?'........

In looking up I pointed directly at the big petrol station waving a massive set of keys saying 'You also came in earlier and I served you when you filled up with £50.00 of fuel on a fuel card' - After a nice 9 hour shift being pulled over after 10 feet of driving isn't really fun. Then again there was one local officer who was a tad switched on - always used to come in and ask questions like 'Where is your Fabia vRS?' / 'What's next on the cards?' / 'The Civic is looking well today'.

Don't forget that technically it is still an offence for you not to produce your insurance certificate, drivers licence and MOT certificate (if applicable) at the road side.

That's what the producer or 7 day wonder is to cover.

If they've made it law that you've got to have it in the car, then I'm effing emigrating.

I have no issue with them, unless you get one of the big I am types.

The type where no matter how polite you are to them, they decide to be an asshole.

I think they're on a power trip and should be fired.

That's at the officers discretion.

Going where? In every country I ever been you need to produce, DL, Insurance and registration on the spot. In the US they will lock you in on the spot if you missing one of the above.

Been to India recently?

Seriously, if they've made not having to have your documents "at the discression of a police office" through the back door, then this country has become akin to a police state.

I mean, eff it. We've already got a huge public workforce, lets just rename to police force the people's police (google Volkspolizei for those who don't get it) and perhaps rename ourselves to the GDR!
