Engine Warning Light

Featured Replies

Hey all, fairly new to the world of Skoda and looking for a little help. Recently had a service and timing chain change, all went well and the engine sounds a lot better. However, the engine warning light is now on permanently and the car has definitely lost power. The acceleration is slower and the top end is much lower, when pushed before I could see 110 on the clock (private road of course), now can't even get it up to 100 on the clock.

If I didn't know better I would have said it wasn't firing on all 4 pots but it sounds fine. Anybody shed any light on ideas on the potential cause? Or can anybody recomend a good indy in east lancs, I'm in Burnley. I have been back to the place we had the work done 3 times and they haven't a clue, they admit they caused the problem but don't know what it is........

Ideally looking for an indy who can read the fault codes and determine whats wrong so we can fix it. The car is my son's who doesn't know/care as long as it drives.

MPI? If so and you've had the timing chain and sprockets done there is a known issue with replacement sprockets - the timing dot is out on the newer ones. Let me dig you out a linky.

Once it's re-aligned all should be good.
