Had a close call just a minute ago. Dropped my mate off at his house which he lives on a corner, so i pulled into the road and decided to handbrake turn to straight up so i could drive off without reversing etc. The car spun around loads more than I anticipated, back wheel hit the curb side on with force! :o As my mate was saying 'thats not good' I had my head in my hands expecting cracked wheels and bend axles. Luckly I had hit the down side of a drop curb, not even curbed my alloy's! TFFT! Not used to these wide wheels on snow, zero grip.

I fairness I thing the handbrake turn was more the issue than the "wide wheels". Glad you have survived without damage though. My stock vrs wheels ended up buckled in the snow :'(

Hmm am I getting old, or is handbrake turning not part of the driving test or IAM?

Used the handbrake all the time in my renault 5 and micra, brillant cars for snowy conditions because of there skinny wheels. I failed to mention im a motocross racer, we are a little daft at times :drunk:

Ive not really checked if they are buckled, all i know is the wheel is inline, no curbing and car doesnt wobble when driving

If a Police saw and you said "well officer, I was only doing a handbrake turn, I didn't expect that" it might be driving without due care etc.

Couldn't prove I was using my handbrake, like i would say i used it in the first place. I'm not that stupid, besides the handbrake turing

Rally stage. Handbrake. Endanger. Public road. Handbrake. Reckless. Police prosecution. Insurance. Invalid. Invalid. Personal injury. Skidpan. One million pounds damages. Moving vehicle.

Make a sentence using some or all of the words above.

What is it with snow?

I'm at a loss as to why you'd even go near the handbrake in the snow other than for parking up or stopping @ traffic lights. Is it normal to execute a handbrake turn when parking up at your mates house? I suspect not. Why on earth try it in far more hazardous conditions?

I just don't get it.....

you're lucky that you appear not to have casued damage, that said you'd have no sympathy from me if you had.

Quite the contrary, I've done plenty. Fair play. Your statement above makes it appear that you've learnt a lesson.

I'll say no more, other than No.5 is alive :giggle:

i know what you mean and what you say.

i have done silly stuff as you have.

glad car is ok

Just gave my alloy a good old scuff because of the bloody snow!

Never mind, time for a refurb and a different colour. :)

We al like a **** about, just come back from a empty car park/skid-pan in my mates fabia, was a laugh, but I made sure there was no obstetrical or persons to hit. I`m sure there was no one about, i`m sure you know the amount of damage a small curb can do

Try and drive around an empty industrial estate roundabout in an Merc CLK AMG. I couldn't resist with the owner sat next to me willing me on.

We all ****in drive like idiots no matter what weather we're in. Sunny weather windows down, nice music on, ya all tempted to boot it a touch!! I've been driving 8years and I'm 26 and I've just handbraked round my road wen no1 was there and no1 in site just because in our minds we're like being child's :-)

Nah, there was no one about. Just took the snow for granted and it bit me back.

Yeah the minute I hit it I thought of the worst, I know how much damage itty bitty curb can do, so im not trying that stunt again :giggle:
