Steering Wheel

Featured Replies

Is it possible to replace the standard steering wheel on a mk1 auto diesel 1.9td to a newer wheel?

Ideally one with the radio controls on it and something nice looking such as http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4072/4216675118_71eed6115d_o.jpg but with radio controls?

If so has anyone done it or know a guide thats suitable for the MK1 Octy?

Can the original airbag be used on newer wheels or would I have to get the matching airbag for that wheel?

Or if it ended up being say a VW wheel is there any way to change the badge on the wheel for a Skoda one?

If you look around a bit, you may be lucky enough to find a Mk1 wheel with stereo and cruise controls. Like I have. ;)

to my knowledge mate there is NO wheel on the mk1 octy with controles on it. the cruise was on a stalk.

you can fir the vRS 3 spoke wheel or a golf mk 4 one too. Even the mk5 stuff but I think some modifying will be needed. Dont think it will be cheap to fit a wheel with controles on it tho.

L&k mk1 had controls on it so did the ambiance SE blue line and silver line also had them.

I stand corrected.

in that case youll need the looms and hub.

sounds like a lot of work to me and a lot of stripping.

plus are they not the 4 spoke wheels?

Yes they are the bog standard four spoke wheels.

Yep... they also have lit buttons that come on with the lights. A lot of fancy stuff to wire in, Shirley..?
