Fabia Aerotwin Wipers

Oh, hang on a minute...

If you turn them round, it looks like they won't work:

Does anyone know the lengths of RHD Fabia wiperblades?

If they're 19" and 21"' date=' we should be good to go![/quote']

 why would they not be, just placed the other way round.

Look at the picture - the bottom bit would work but the top-bit would have the little 'sticky out bit' (presumably 'spoiler' the wrong way, which would probably cause it to lift rather than get pushed down at speed

I had these wiper blades on my polo and I thought they were useless

When trundling along at motorway speeds they left a big smear of water right in the driver's forward view. I had them changed about every three months at the 10,000 mile service and they never got any better. So a :thumbdwn: from me.

Haven't tried them yet at high speeds or in real rain. Don't think they can be useless though if they are standard fitment for all new BMW's, Vauxhall's, VW's, Audi's, large big Skoda's, and so on....

Maybe they just don't work on a Polo because of windshield angle or so.

Well, as they are standard fitment to the Polo then they should have worked, irrespective of the angle of the windscreen.

They cleared the water fine on the upstroke but when they returned to the horizontal they left a large smear right in my line of sight. And at motorway speeds, that is not funny.

It may well have just been that particular windscreen I had fitted but over the three years of running the Polo I had roughly twelve sets of blades fitted and they were all the same. As I was not paying for them I feel it gives me a more objective view.

I would be happy to find they are as good as they say and hope that my experience was a one-off.

Let us know your experience of usage in rain. :)

I retrofitted Lupo GTi Aerotwin wipers on my 6N2 Polo GTi and they were fantastic.

Lyser... Possibly your spring tension in the wiper arm was messed up? I had trouble getting mine right due to the cut-n-shut way we made these wipers for my car, but in the end they were FAR better than the standard wipers I had before.

I'm guessing when these things come out 'properly' matching arms will be for sale as well?

WW... These retrofit blades use your existing arms! :)

Whoops :D - read properly note> ;)

I must admit in that case it sounds like the spring was not behaving or the arm bent - it does this on my Rover at motorway speeds and a little twist to the arm made it go away completely. Must have been some kids again (they have this tendency round here grr).

:D

  • 2 months later...

Has anybody got anywhere with this???

I have just had a new windscreen fitted (thanks autoglass, no excess!!) and tried (thanks to vagparts) to fit aerotwin blades and arms, but couldn't find an arm to fit.

Has anybody got a part number for the arms that will fit without modification??

Thanks!
