Fabia Aerotwin Wipers

Featured Replies

Anyone aware of Aerotwin Wiper availability for the Fabia?

I thought I had seen a photo of one somewhere fitted with them.. I also know that Bosch are in the process of making retrofit Aerotwin blades available for std OEM arms.

Anyone know more?

They aint available off the shelf as yet. One forum member made some out of some Polo arms and blades iirc but needed cutting and welding to do it.

What are Aerotwin exactly?

Guessing they must be good to justify all the effort of cutting and welding

Aerotwin are the low profile wiper blades as fitted to the VW's, Audi's etc... they have a rubber spine the full length meaning that the arm pressure is exerted on the blade equally = no smearing and a nice clean sweep.

Moreover, they look cool :)

I do miss these on my Fabia...

I cut and shut a pair onto my old Polo and they are very good.

And the new Mk2 Octavia

I just waiting for a call back from Bosch UK - I'll keep you posted.

Ended up emailing the above PDF to them as they couldn't find the part number. Got the following reply.

Thank you for your enquiry.

It would appear that these Aero twin blades are not currently available to us in the UK.

They are a retrofit blade; which is a new aero twin blade on a super plus blade arm with an adapted quick clip for easy fitment.

Unfortunately, because we are right hand traffic, we are behind Germany in our release of these into our market - the majority of Europe being left hand traffic.

Our aim is to have these in the UK market for the Autumn 2005.

I am sorry that we are unable to help you further at the moment and apologise at our slightly mis-leading internet information.

GROUP BUY as soon as they become available

Steve

If some organises a Group Buy later this year I'll have a set.

Hmm... Surely its just a matter of putting the smaller blade on the passenger side? Aerotwin blades are not curved like the standard SWF blade so I can't see where any difference would be introduced.. The arm fitments are the same.

Valeo (SWF) also make a similar product - Visioflex. Have tried calling UK distributor this afternoon but they are always on answerphone..

Wonder if Bosch could source some "Continental" versions if we had enough interest???

Might be worth a try.

Eventually got a response from Bosch.

Since the product code isnt on Bosch UK systems they are unable to supply, even though the product may be available in Germany. I then received the same followup as Stu posted above : Into UK in the Autumn.

I will now follow up with Valeo to see if there is more luck with the Visioflex product.

I just ordered Aerotwin's for my LHD Fabia from Aubu.de (just 2.95 euro shipping). I got a conformation that they will be shipped today.

I'll see if I can make some before/after pics if you'd like.

Photos would be excellent. If you could measure the blades as well, that would be great. It would let us know that we can order the LHD kit and just swap the blades around :-)

Here are some before/after pics on my Fabia Estate PD100:

I am assuming the blade to arm connect will not rotate far enough for RHD cars ?

Pitty, my wiper blades need replacing, & am reluctant to put new 1's on as i would like these.

is it worth putting cheepies on temporarily ?

Out of curiosity, the aerotwin blades don't appear to be spoiler type baldes. Does this mean they're naff at clearing the rain at speed?

The Aerotwins have a sort-of spoiler on the full length of the blade!

I don't see how it would be any different.. I'm assuming that the blade would just go on the other way around.. As far as I'm aware, the aerotwin design (build in spoiler etc) is symmetrical..

Thanks for taking the time to do the photos

Does anyone know the lengths of RHD Fabia wiperblades?

If they're 19" and 21", we should be good to go!
