Personal Safety

This maybe an "American" type question but can anyone tell me if the central locking on the Octy Elegance can be set to automatically lock all the doors when you start moving? My car in the USA auto locks all the doors at approx 15 mph and unlocks them when you stop. My wife's car auto locks the doors as soon as its put into 'Drive'. The idea is for safety by preventing a potential theif from opening a door when you are stopped at a red light or whatever - anti theft and car jack measure.

Also are the door mirrors foldable? - again safety when parked on narrow streets or getting into/out of narrow garages.

The current Octavia can be programmed to lock all the doors automatically at around 15kph and I would expect the New Octavia to be similarly programmable. I disabled that feature on mine recently with a VAG-COM and also disabled selective unlocking (ie driver's door then all doors) today.

I don't know about the set speed locking, however on the key pad there is the choice of: just driver's door unlocking, just boot/hatch unlocking or all doors unlocking. In the inside of the car near the handbrake is a push switch to lock all doors.

There is no mechanism besides manual moving the mirrors to fold them.

It can be done on a New Octavia.

It's something I'd like done (along with other things), and I noticed on the Skoda UK website they offer it (on a paid basis) as part of the "After sales offer" that they're doing at the moment. I presume it's easy to do with VAG-COM but i dont fancy spending a couple of ton on the software just to do that, personally!

according to the Czhecoslovinglish handbook the doors lock automaticly over 15 k but have never noticed it happening though the locks are very quiet so not likely to

The test model I drove here in belgium locked the doors automatically too at a certain speed. A 2.0tdi ambiente.

UK spec does not seem to do it but it does say in the maunal that the dealer can enable it.

Should that not be the other way round ?

Surely you want the doors locked when stationary, like at traffic lights etc, as you don't see many car jackers running at more than 15mph trying to steal your car .

Took my 54 Octy into the dealers this week fior the spring aftercare service , which included the Auto lock you mention here , they also check and top all fluids check electrics , tyres , exhaust , coolant , breaks , battery all for the grand price of

Locks at 15mph and stays locked.

Why not just press the button in the centre between the seats to lock the doors? that's what I do when in dodgy areas like leaving our office in Salford Quays.

Post where you are in the country and I'm sure a local friendly Briskodian with VAG-COM will sort you out :D

Yep, its it habit for me now with living in Salford for the last seven years :D

I had the Antitheft Lock feature turned on by my local dealer for free.

It locks once you get upto about 15KPH and unlocks when you take the key out of the ignition.

If you have passengers who you are dropping off, you can either hit the button near the handbrake, or thay can pull the inside door handle twice, (once to unlock and again to open). Once you are up to 15KPH the door willl lock again.
