Candy White vRS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Has anyone got any quick tips on keeping a candy white vRS clean. I normally get it hand washed and valeted at a place in Winchester and sit and watch but looking at doing it myself.

Only looking to spend about an hour on it every 3 weeks to a month.

I am looking at going shopping to buy cleaning tools, Any ideas what I need with links? I understand buying cheap halfords crap is a bad idea.

this is a must buy wax, it helps keep your new car looking new, beads the water off amazingly, makes cleaning alot easier and also help prevent the swirl marks you get from those valeters on the side of the road.

also dont use a sponge/chamios get some cleaning mits and a drying cloth. Again this helps to prevent swirl/scratch marks appearing.

hope this has helped.

Brilliant cheers mate. Any ideas how long it takes to apply the wax and how do you apply it?

used to use it on my black golf GTI and it was a doddle once you get going.

it takes about 10 mins to apply, dont put it on too thick nice even thin layer will do the job all over, also use some polishing pads to apply, as it fits the wax tin and also stops any scrtching, give it 10 mins to work its magic (while thats happening go round and clean the glass and wheels, saves more time) then remove it with some micro fible cloths. JOB DONE! looks great.

Generic polishing pads

Your Black car looked ace when it was up for sale shane, whites are a little different. Tar show's up a lot on white so De-tar with autosmart tardis. Any iron particles that get embedded will rust and show up as rust spots too, but this depends where you live etc, but if they do show up then Carpro Ironx is the way to go.

For cleaners and LSP, layers of Zaino Z2 flash cured with ZFX with a spritz of Z6 in between is about the best I've seen on a white car.

Another popular choice and one I personnally have used on my mates white evo is Werkstat acrylic range from polishedbliss. Great gloss on white too.

A cheaper alternative would be Carlack 68 twins, made by the same manufacturer as werkstat. They are available at cleanyourcar.co.uk

These are what I've found to be good on white and light coloured cars, but it's all about opinion, don't disregard what sam_petch has said, if you're in the market for a paste wax, 915 is a good one and does come in a kit with carlack 68 nano system care

Cheers hunty. Not a bad little package in the bottom link. I think I will buy now.

Just need to get 2 buckets, lamb wool mitt and a few drying towels and I think I will be ready!

A good wash routine is the best way to keep your car looking good, and the 2 bucket method with a lambswool mitt and a couple of microfibre drying towels is the way to do it! Hope you achieve the look you want!

Just a quick one, as with every product, less is more, so get as thin a layer on the paintwork as possible (so you can barely see it), Haze is waste product, and these 2 can be a real pain to remove if you over apply it. If you get a nice thin layer, you can leave the product on for 20mins while you apply dressings to the tyres and black trim (this is what I do) or put your buckets and hose away, then remove it with a fresh microfibre cloth. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all buddy.

Sorry if that was teaching you how to suck eggs, thought it was worth a mention

Wolf's Body Wrap

Has beat anything I have tried on my white vRSemoticon-0148-yes.gif

I too have a Candy white vRS

When new, it was snow foamed, clayed, machine polished with G Techniq P1 polish, follwed by 2 coats od autofiness tough coat sealent. Four months/3500 miles on protection is great, a quick blast with the jet wash removes 80% of the dirt, which often is enough when in a rush.

On my white VRS I have treated her to Gtechniq C2, its an idiot proof sealent, basically give your car a good wash, clay bar nd polish first if you are into all that sort of stuff, use a nice wash mit, and get yoruself a drying towel or get soem nice large microfibre towels.

Once the car is all cleaned and polished, use the C2, basicly mist a couple of squirts onto a microfibre cloth, wipe over a panel, then get another cloth and buff it up to a shine, do that all around the car, will take about 20-30 mins max, also do the same on all yoru glass, plus your alloys, and the car is done, stand back nd enjoy, then roughly every 4-6 weeks, after washing mix a small amount of C2 maybe 5ml with about 35-40ml water and go round the car after ashing this just keeps the protection topped up, then reapply the C2 every 8 months or maybe spring and autumn with the diluted tops every couple of washes and thats it job done.

Obviously the C2 wont last as long on the wheels, so maybe top that up a bit more regularly and jobs a good un.

I am a keen car cleaner, and spend many hours cleaning my car, however with my time becoming ever more restricted I wanted something that was quick and easy, yet still gave me good results, so tried this and I love it!

Now I wash the week usually every couple of weeks and using this method it only takes about an hour or so if that if I am rushing, and it just lookks great!!

See this picture below for how my car looks after a wash using the C2.

That car is looking good.

C2 sounds like a plan, anything to make life easier.

What are you using on the tyres?

  • 3 weeks later...

I just use the following:

Weekend (30 mins to 1 hour):

Wash every weekend with TurtleWax shampoo & Lambs wool wash mit, using 2 bucket method.

Dry with Terry cotton cloth, windows with a silicone blade.

Wheels get washed with the left over water post wash (using any old sponge).

Tyres dressed using £1 shop tyre shine.

Nice days when I can be bothered (3 to 6 hours):

Wash as above

Meguires paint cleaner

Clay bar

AutoGylm Super Resin Polish

Meguires Gold Class wax

Wheels, Autogylm wheel sealant

Glass - AutoGylm glass cleaner then Mers Rain Away

Engine bay - £1 shop degreaser
