Came here from the Golf tdi scene and ukmkiv's - looking for a fabia vrs pd130 ! any advice ?

also, how close are the mk4 and fabia platforms ? are the pd130's the same ASZ engine as the pd130 golfs ?

thanks, matt

Welcome to the forum

I'm no expert but I came from a Golf GTI TDI 25th Anni to my Fab so can compare. Fab is more economical but Golf was a better cruiser. Fab is great fun to chuck around esp with the brake upgrade.

I believe the Fab is the same platform as the Polo not the Golf.

Early Fabs have the ASZ engine, later ones have BLT engines that are apparently more powerful. Not sure when the cut off between the two was.

ah right i see. ive got around 3 grand to spend and idealy want one with under 100k on. dont no with the skodas but it seemed 140k was the point in which i had to replace almost everything on the golf. anni's were also on my list but cudnt afford a diesel and i dont think i can justify a petrol with the miles i do.

The fabias seem to very massively in the 2nd hand market in terms of price ive noticed compared to the golfs.

Welcome to Briskoda. For more info post the same question in the fabia section and I'm sure you'll get a lot more views and responses. :)

And yes the Fabia is based on the Polo not Golf platform...

I wouldn't get too hung up about the mileage. There are plenty running strong well over 100k.

Look for usual history more importantly esp cambelts and poss turbo change.

You should be able to get a decent one if you're patient and look in the private market for 3k

yeah the turbos one of my main concerns. changed it on my golf and it was a massive hassle finding the right one. i was reduced to my bike for 2 weeks :(
