Wheel centre issues (aftermarket wheels)

Featured Replies

Hi all, for a while now I've had aftermarket alloys on my felly (see pic below). They are great (bit heavy give the lack of power steering.).

Since rebuilding the rear hub brakes last year the hub centre caps on the rear axel stick out a little which doesn't leave enough of a gap for the wheel centre's to clip into the alloys. Has anyone had similar problems with aftermarket wheels?? Any suggestions for a solution? I though about trying some of the universal wheel centres just in case they were a little slimmer.

The flat ones from a mk3 golf fit, in fact them have the same rear wheel bearing so it's exactly the right size now i come to think of it.

Brilliant will have a look at those. Do they come off in the same way (brute force and applied science aka hammer)? Would have thought the hub covers being flat should leave enough clearance.

The 6n2 polo has a flat one too iirc... Yeah it's just brute force and applied science that gets them off, a chisel sometimes helps too.
