Wiper Motor Relay / Wiper Problem

Featured Replies

Dear All,

I'm having an issue with my 2001 Skoda Fabia SDI Classic. The front windshield wipers for some unknown reason are working but the start/end position of their swipe across my windscreen has now moved to about 1/3 up my windscreen from their proper start/stop position.

I have done a whole lot of reading online about this and 1) need to check fuses - OK 2) need to replace wiper motor relay - Which I can't find!!

I have been told the wiper motor relay is under the steering wheel dash which I took apart and I can only find 3 relays - supposedly the wiper motore relay is the 377 relay which I can't find.

Also took out all 3 relays to see if when I turn on ignition and start wipers - that they don't work to identify wiper motor realy but none of them stop the operation of the wipers!

Any help??? Suggestions?

the wiper relay you mention is only a the delay relay for intermittent wipe if i recall, so unplugging the relay will have no effect

The problem is usually caused by the contacts inside the relay - they start pitting, you can clean them up temp but the long term cure is to change the relay, from what I remember the wipers work OK on the fast setting but not on slow or intermitant if its the contacts. cheers - Stuart

There isn't a relay 377. The wiper control functions are part of the OPSCU (onboard power supply control unit).

It is likely that you have a faulty wiper motor.

OK The problems I have come across are very tight wiper arm shafts that req the whole wiper linkage taking out and the shafts greasing, also in an Octavia the 377 relay contacts, I have also stripped down the wiper motor (drill out the rivets on the cover and replace with nuts and bolts) and checked that the contacts are OK on the brass strip. B) cheers - Stuart
