Yeti's been back in today for more tests and Skoda UK Technical have declared her serviceable. They have told the dealer that the latest DPF software, which mine apparently has, is programmed to take every opportunity to keep the filter clean, thus reducing the cases of the light coming on.

Accept what there saying, however I'm still mystified why the regeneration cycle pattern changed after about six months of driving and the regenerations gradually got more and more frequent. Dealers only explanation is the colder weather and thats what I thought at first, until they became weekly then almost daily. Also this winter has been quite mild compared to those of the last couple of years :wonder:

Will continue to try get an explanation for this from SUK and maybe suggest if their so confident that it's OK, then they will be happy to cover any failure associated with the DPF/engine, while I have the car that's not down to me ignoring the warning light :smirk:

Still at the back of my mind that a sensor has gone out of tolerance but that's been dismissed as well :smirk: :wonder:

Good luck Tim. Smacks of something fishy; and I don't just mean the smell...

You've got a diesel Yeti in Arizona :wonder: :o

know Skoda did do some prototype testing in the States back in 09.

CFH is the family engine code;

CFHA = 2.0TDI CR 110, 250N/m torque (2 wheel drive)

CFHF = 2.0TDI CR 110, 280N/m torque (4x4)

CFHC = 2.0TDI CR 140, 320N/m torque (4x4)

Regards,

TP

Thanks for the information as mine is apparently the first one listed. To clear things' up, my Yeti is actually in Verona, Italy with my girlfriend, so no Yeti here in Arizona. The only thing that comes close is the VW Tiguan which is very boring with no TDi option.

Hi Tim

Hope they managed to resolve your other issues :thumbup: , as for the Regen's my monster must have the same software as yours and we have been looking out for a Regen from the time you started noticing your monster doing it daily and as yet have not had one :no: .

Some days when it is really cold it will not get up to normal operating temp on swmbos drive to work :o , and when we went out last Friday (-5 when we left home) it took 14miles and 20min of driving to get 90 on the gage, so I took a little detour up the A24 to give it a chance to Regen but nothing.

As your monster has a little further to go on your run to work and a more challenging route I would have expected mine to do more Regen's than yours :wonder: , I would still tend to think something is not right with it but is not showing on the tests that they doing.

Hope you get this put right or it sorts itself out soon.

regards

Kevin

I was just about to say something along these lines. If ALL new Yetis have this same software then ALL of the new Yetis will regenerate daily (in the winter). They do not it seems. Hence you started this thread Tim. So I suspect a get-out-of-jail fob off here in what they told you. It is always easy to blame the software in a blamestorming session. But do get that piece of paper from them confirming they take responsibilty of the DPF from now on.

I have pressed the question as to why others are not experiencing the same activity on their Yeti's. SUK Technical's answer; is that individually were using our Yeti's differently, therefore they will not all behave the same. Get out of jail free card no.2 :S

Thought this morning I ought to challenge them to loan me another 110 4x4 Monster with the current software, to see if it develops the same aggressive regeneration pattern in my ownership :D :wonder:

Oh and yes I have already fired of the e-mail re that piece of paper ;)

Is it possible that "winter diesel" is contributing to this effect?

Hi Fred,

had thought about winter issues such as temp, fuel etc. but I'm sure on reflection the beginnings of this change in activity started before such things would have come into play :wonder:

Also still puzzles me, despite what SUK say that my Monster appears fairly unique in it's behaviour :wonder: :wonder:

Would love to get my hands on another one for two or three weeks and see what happens, just to satisfy my curiosity :D

I know my 1.6TDI is a different family of engine but I haven't had much in the way of regenerations over the first 6K miles (I can think of exactly one).

I tend to mostly drive in or around town during the week but it gets a good run on a motorway / dual carriage way every w/e so it might be why?

Even so I'd have thought if any car was a likely candidate mine would be it during winter trips to work with town shuffling.

It does idle at a higher rpm (circa 1K) on cold morning start ups (below -2C) but it rarely stays like that for long.

I'd keep pushing if I were you TP as it doesn't sound right to me.

The behaviour described sounds like the Regeneration is never completing.

Be interested to know how often you notice a DPF regeneration; mine as some might be aware is regenerating almost daily; which so far I've yet to convince dealer or to some extent SUK that it's not right. Problem is there's no fault codes, so they consider it fault free :smirk:

When I'm talking regeneration the signs are; around 1000rpm idle speed when the engine is fully warmed up, cooling fans running after turning the engine off and a sense of heat from underneath/unusual burning type smell.

Many thanks,

TP
