Hi

To keep it brief:-

Mate at work bought an 08 plate Mini from Brighouse Car Auctions

Car runs fine for 24 hours then goes into limp mode

Car taken to Mini garage for diagnosis - fault not immediately found

Mate speaks to technician from where car went to auction - The Car people

Technician eventually tells mate to look deeper into engine

Mate goes back to Mini and due to fault new engine needed

Mate didn't take out indemnity at auction

Question - what should mate do?

Regards

Chubbs

Put it back trough the auction...

Put it back trough the auction...

This is the only thing to do, although you'll need to wait for the V5 to turn up before you can do so (currently 3 weeks or so). and expect to get less as your mate will show as a new keeper and not for a long time.

It depends on how much he paid for it and if he wants to keep it?

May be worth trying for a second hand engine.

Do you know why it needs an engine? what is actually wrong with it.
