Help with nVidia Driver

Featured Replies

Hey folks.

I'm a bit confused and struggling to find any information at all.

Basically I have an ION nettop and also my netbook has ION chipset in too.

For the netbook I download the ION (Desktops) from the nVidia website and these are the correct one (the laptop ones don't work full stop!). So no problems there.

The problem comes with the nettop. It's got the ION 2 gpu in (uses the Intel NM10 chipset). Is this the same as the ION LE on the nVidia drivers site? As they only have ION (the one I use for the netbook as it is the original ION chipset) and ION LE.

The nVidia site gives no information. It was by pure chance that I found I needed the desktop drivers for my netbook as there wasn't any information on that either.

does the nvidia auto detect on their site not work?

I tried that last night and it didn't work.

Also tried using the drivers from the Jetway site and they didn't work. Just goes blank once windows boots.

I think I actually have a hardware problem so I have an RAM number to return the unit.

Have a look here: Softpedia

I've just been to the Nvidia website and searched for ION drivers.

There's a choice of three Graphics, Chipset & HDMI Audio.

The selection of OS options are:

Win 7 (x32 & x64)

Win XP (x32 & x64)

Win Vista (x32 & x64)

Win Server 2003 x64

Linux (x32 & x64)

Solaris x86 & x64

FreeBSD x86 & x64

So what's your OS?

It's Vista 32 bit.

I have tried different versions but still not working.

I did have it working fine before but can't remember exactly what drivers I used. It then refused to work after the video went blank and it froze while watching a HD film.

Tried a fresh windows install and the video works fine right up to installing the nVidia driver and the video goes blank after the reboot.

I can then go into safe mode and remove the driver and it works but just not with any driver installed.

I have even tried the correct drivers from the Jetway website and that has the same effect.

I have an RMA return number so will send it off and get it sorted.

Try installing the HDMI driver + chipset driver as well.

The thing is it doesn't have an nVidia chipset. It's an Intel NM10 chipset just with ION GPU. It's not like my ION netbook that has and nVidia SATA controller, ethernet port and GPU etc.

Have a look on driverguide ( think it's .net ) .You may have to register, but I've found a great source of software . Also look on Tucows.com/downloads.com . OR- find the MB type - then look on line for downloads .

Cheers for the suggestions guys.

I've given up after trying everything I can think of. Must be a hardware issue afterall. I have sent it back for a refund!
