what would you replace your MK1 VRS with?

Featured Replies

EVOs are just a big money pit - you could at least double that 6 grand in what it'll end up costing you

  • what like this 1... my mate bens, 580bhp built himself. mad diff to get the power down. i detailed it before its Golf+ feature.. This is scary fast!

I'm having the same thoughts lately. Mainly because the old girl is 10yrs old and has 135k miles on the clock, and I've had it 4.5yrs now.

I even wrote a list of criteria to try and narrow my search!

  • Better
  • Not diesel
  • Not FWD
  • Decent boot
  • Tin top
  • 30+ mpg
  • Rust proof
  • Tax band K or lower

Quite a hard list to meet!

I found your car: 2012 BMW 328i,(i believe you all now the specs, 2.0T easy to tune and economical) only problem is you will have to wait some 3-5 yrs depending on how much you want to spend on it. :giggle:

I've thought about this since 2002 when I purchased my first Octy VRS brand new. I'm now on my fourth one which cost 3.5 k in the middle of last year and I've had a lot of cars in between since 2002. Even with 6k I'm sure that you will struggle to find anything that ticks so many boxes.

Nice volvo 850-R OR A VOLVO T5-R ESTATE OLD 80s but 250 hp standed then a remap 310 hp fast as fook!!

well having looked around and had a good think about it I've decided to keep the VRS, I'm going to get a new car for the family instead.

Just can't find anything that ticks as many boxes as the Ocy.

Honda integra dc5 always fancyed one of them but they are still quite expensive or a corrado vr6 turbo wish I had the money and knowledge to carry out the work myself, but a vr6 turbo would be a lot of fun emoticon-0100-smile.gif

is that local to kent?

looks good! look how close that turbo sits to the bulkhead though!!!

I'm in exactly the same position mate, similar money to spend etc..... I'm off to look at and S4 Avant at the weekend (2.7 V6 Bi-Turbo) I'm hoping that it's going to impress and I want to buy it, but I dare say that I'm going to drive home thinking that I'll keep the vRS.

Only other car for me is a 350z - My brother had one and it was superb (he now has an M3 and neither of us like that as much!) Obviously a 350z would not tick the box of 5 seats for you though!

I'll keep you posted on the S4 front

Well if I had the dollar....

Audi RS6 estate

Audi RS4

Vauxhall VXR8 bathurst

Lamborghini gallardo super trofeo ;)

I recenty drove an 09plate Audi A6 avant - 3.0tdi quattro 'Le Mans' edition. It was remapped to 290bhp and 430ibs/ft torque from 1800rpm.... That surprised me, very nice indeed!!!! Frugal on the jungle juice to & with 19" rims and 255/35R19's it gripped like $h!t to a bed sheet!!!!!

Would be my car if I was doing mega-miles each year!

s4 great car, great engine nice and smooth with the twin turbo setup.....juicy as fook tho!

I'd love an S4. They're just not around in the age/condition/mileage I'd like though!

Yeah the ones that are within my price range are starship mileage, and they're bl**dy expensive to fix. The one blessing though is they're pre-2001 so fall into the old category of car tax, so actually £30 a year cheaper to tax than a VRS!

This is true! But they're all at the milegage where wear and tear things are starting to go :(

Yes!
