How many windscreen variations are there

Featured Replies

Travelling at 70mph today and the sight and sound of a dambuster stone skimming off the bonnet into the windscreen creating a large and ever increasing crack. Having relieved me of my insurance excess Auto Glass will be out next week to replace the screen.

Just wondering how many variants there are of windscreen for the Roomster (and is it the same screen as the Fabia II). There are no rain sensors in my screen but it does have the black line radio aerial down the middle.

Have unfortunately replaced screens on both our Roomsters (one car more than once)

Autoglass have only ever asked "is it top-tint or standard ?"

We have no aerial in the glass though - must be the latest models only. They should know what is required when you quote the model year or chassis number.

The first time they came out they managed to crack both plastic A-pillar covers. Seems they couldn't see any obvious fixings so proceeded to lever the covers off - if they'd looked harder they would have seen that they are secured from inside the door shut. This may have been because Roomsters were fairly rare back then, so they should have built up some experience by now (especially as the Fabia II is the same)

Good luck.

Pete

I have a Roomster that is from October 2011.

It has an extra antenna for the radio just in the middle of the windscreen. But no "top-tint".

But let us know what types you find, and my guess is that it uses the same as Fabia II.

I think there will be a variation for one with rain sensing wipers/auto dimming rear view mirror.

Mine is a simple one, without the antenna in it, but has a dotted place behind the mirror, covering the space between the two sunblinds (driver's and passenger's).

A check in the parts program shows 4 variations, clear or tinted with or without inbuilt antenna on both, PR number on label in boot tells you what is fitted to your car.

Many thanks for the info and replies, I will double check they have the right part before allowing them to remove the old one. Off to find that PR number :wonder:

So the windscreen was replaced this morning, all seemed fine, correct part (with aerial) fitter knew how to remove cowling. However, I now have the bulb out warning light on, on the dash. I have checked every internal and external bulb I can think of and they all seem to be working.

What can a windscreen fitter do that would make the bulb out warning light come on?

Just to finish this thread off. Car went to Skoda dealers today and they reported a CAN bus connector problem not sure if this was just a loose or knocked connection. Anyway the symptoms were bulb out warning light on dash and no reversing lights. All bulbs were OK, so it seems somehow the windscreen fitter has knocked a connector (maybe the one under the passengers seat) and this caused the problem.

All OK now and sorted under warranty :)
