Shame but id have to say then that black is probably a no go then!

It looked extrememly smart in the showroom but theres little point if itll look a dog on the road.

Might have to go Muscovado. Petrol blue looked nice in the brochure but less striking in the showroom (but still nice)

Petrol blue looks really nice out of the showroom in the daylight - sunny or overcast!

...Another must have (for very little cost) is the Tyre Pressure monitor. I know people go on that they are pretty slow to react and useless but for so little money I find they are a good safety net to have.

...

I thought I read somewhere that TPMs become a legal requirement for new cars this year? If so, I'd expect some trim readjustments for the 2013 model year when announced later this year?

I thought ESP but not seen mention of it recently :wonder:

TP

http://en.wikipedia....tem#Legislation claims Nov 2012 for EU. So if you order now for delivery in Nov then you should get TPM for "free" ;)

Thanks for this

Been delving round re the ESP/ESC and most stuff dates back to articles written in 08;

My link

The article above also make mention of the TPM so the same bit of legislation for both systems. However it appears SUK may have a 'get out of jail' card on their least favoured bit of kit to fit as standard until 2014, unless it's a new model. Will have to see it the CityGo is so equipped across the range when it arrives later in the year (fingers X).

Don't get SUK's approach to safety at all; appear to leave most of the kit on the options list, particularly with the older Fabia & Octavia but even on the Yeti rear side airbags are not even offered as an option in the UK :o

If it was up to me every UK car of the line would have every bit of safety kit possible from the manufactures list and use that as a major selling point but no we get bling; bar hum bug again :giggle:

Why would a properly constructed panoramic non-opening sunroof with reflective coating heat up the interior more than a steel roof? It wouldn't, what it does do is provide an extra light interior.

Trust me it does. I've been to many owners' club meetings in my Audi A2. We park our row of identical cars in the sun. Keep the roof shut on one and get in and out of a steel (néé aluminium roof in this case) car to a sunroof closed one (after letting them heat up for a while of course!). The sunroofed one was hotter inside regardless of the fancy reflective coating or blind being closed - not much but it was. Get out of either of these into a car with the roof on tilt (which was mine to prove the point) and the temperature in my car was heaps lower and about the same as outside - i.e. 25 or so and not the double that or more as in the first two...

Regardless of this argument (if a steel roof car gets hotter than a fixed sunroofed one) the fact is BOTH will be TONS warmer inside on a warm day than a car parked with a sunroof on tilt. Full stop. That is why on the Passat CC, the previous BMW 6 series coupe and the VW Scirocco they all have sunroofs that can't slide back or open at all BUT all three of them can tilt.

We all have the same cars here so the next time (in summer) we all meet up I suggest we take a thermometer and do the same experiment again. I can bet you now the outcome easily.

Ambient temperature 25 with sunshine. Temperature after 30 minutes with all windows closed:

Steel roofed Yeti interior temperature: 60 degrees

Yeti with sunroof and internal blind shut: 62 degrees

Yeti with sunroof and on tilt: 27 degrees.

Time to cool car 1 to 22 degrees from startup: 15 minutes and an additional 5mpg of fuel used *

Time to cool car 2 to 22 degrees from startup: 16 minutes and an additional 5.5mpg of fuel used *

Time to cool car 3 to 22 degrees from startup: 2 minutes and an additional 0.5mpg of fuel used *

* = rough estimates and nothing scientific about that at all! :giggle:

Now I know the sunroof weighs 35kg more and you cart this around ALL the time, but the impact that has on fuel consumption is pretty negligible I'd say. It is not zero I know so you will pay in fuel to cart it around but nothing as much as you will pay to cool your car down all the time without it.

Back OT: Freezin the Elegance is the best value for money spec out there for sure. You don't need the Elegance toys no, but they are lovely to have and the ESP is worth it alone for peace of mind.

Black is very hard to keep clean and yes (based on daughter's experience - I've never had a black car) scratches do show up as glaringly white.

The car gets dirty anyway. The only difference the colour makes is whether it looks dirty. How much you care about the appearance is up to you. You should be washing it anyway because it helps keep the bodywork in good condition, not just looking nice.

Scratches should be repaired. Again, this is a maintenance issue, not aesthetic. (Arguably, the more visible they are, the more likely you are to do something about them.)

These arguments basically boil down to how lazy you can be while still thinking your car looks good. :D

Petrol blue looks lovely in sunshine I have to say... BUT as with black it will also scratch white and won't be as easy to keep clean as Muscovado. Muscovado is the best, clasiest colour on a Yeti by far (in my book) apart from Steel Grey of course. Love that colour. And to boot you don't have to wash it often either!

My Monster gets washed about four times a year I'd wager. He never really looks dirty - so yes I "think" my car looks clean most of the time as Steel Grey hides it very well. If that makes me lazy to boot: roll on laziness! :giggle:

No it doesn't. It boils down to how busy you are, and what you prioritise as being more important.

Isn't that what touch up paint is for? I have had a Sahara Octavia for 6 years now and with a little care, bi-annual Autoglym polish and occasional use of Skoda touch up paint it still gleams.

The white and pacific blue touch up pens I've recently purchased from Skoda are almost impossible to apply, akin to Golden Syrup :o even trying to use a fine artists brush can leave just a sticky mess

Wish they used the system as with the red I had before; colour separate from the varnish rather than the all in one with these colours.

Hmm, didn't know that, my touch up paint comes in two tubes - 1 for the colour and a clearcoat to be applied 1 hour after the colour coat. Do Skoda only supply the pens now? Or is there still the alternative of a 2 part system?

Apologies when I said pen I meant the same little tube as normal with a lid/brush but there's no separate clear coat tube, just this thick glup in one pot :S

Never used to use the clear coat either, as it was nearly as bad as this stuff :(
