Lowering VRS for Noobs

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm just after some advice, I've been toying with the idea of lowering my VRS. Is there a particular brand to go for? I don't want to go too cheap only to shoot myself in the foot later.

And finally what's the best amount to drop? I want the car to look tidy and low, I'll be staying with standard VRS wheels if this is going to make the difference.

Any help will be appreciated guys, apologies if this has been posted millions of times.

My preference is -65mm on weitec gt coilovers

Sounds alot.... could I still go over speed bumps?

Just get a set of coilovers and adjust to suite. I dont know exactly what high mine is, but I just tweaked it so the wheels didnt rub/was a reasonable hight off the floor.

Personally I went for KW V1`s for a £10er over the Weitecs.

Remember the fabia is mega high to start with, As long as you split the little "pillow" speed bumps by going over them with one wheel (to avoid ripping the sump off the middle of the car) then you`ll be fine at all but the lowest heights. I ran mine mega low on D90`s and still had no issues with speed bumps, the sump is the main issues when running lots of lows.

You don't happen to have any pics of it at the height do you?

this is mine :)

I have weitec and i like them i just adjusted till i liked the height. only problem i have is i got the fixed damening rate ones so it some times catches if i hit a dip on bump.

Here is a thread i posted a while back. Has some replys with pictures etc.

Im going for lowering springs in the summer as i simply cant afford good coilovers.

I've heard good reviews for the Eibach 25mm lowering springs.

-25mm just doesnt make the fabia look lowered at all tho.

They are 16's btw

Mine is on Koni str.ts and I can't rate them enough. 25mm is a great all rounder

1 last question, any decent online stores to check out? preferably not too expensive but somewhere which has the selection of brands you guys have suggested?

Best about.

Yup, heard only good things about DPM! Good prices too.

Hi guys, thanks for everything so far. Can't help but think 65mm might be too much so last piece of advice, what about 35mm? or is that still pretty high?

The problem is, 25mm doesnt make it look lowered at all, but any more than that on springs alone and the ride is awful. So that leaves wither shocks and springs or coilovers both costing around the same. The only advantage is, if you get coilovers you and adjust your ride hight to the mm.

A picture of mine now is lifted up a little >

At that high I have no speed bump issues (apart from the little sump breakers I was referring to earlier) and no wheel scrubbage. (on 17`s)

Looks lower but can't tell how much as they are different angles

coilovers all the way and just drop it as much as you see fit, some of us like it on its arse, others dont but coilovers are still the way for either opinion for sure :)

Thats mine running quite low on weitecs
