Rear camber

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to this forum and it is extremely helpfull.

I have a problem with my 1.8T Elegance estate 2001 X reg, in that it eats rear tyres yearly, but i am struggling to find a way to adjust the camber. Can anyone help???

thanks

Mike

Is it wearing the outer edges ?? If so then the rear beam is prob bent where someone prob jacked car up on it !!!!

sorry should have said, both inners really badly the other 7/8's of the tyre is effectively brand new.

The rear camber angle is fixed unless you get shims made for the stub axles. Someplace that can do a proper 4 wheel geometry for you will be able to advise further.

Its not a 4x4 is it?

These are said shims if anyone was interested.

What do you do about adjusting the difference with the caliper

spacers come with the kit mate.

where is the best place to get the kit??

you shouldnt need camber shims if there on a stock setup, i agree sounds like something is out of alignment, or the beam has been jacked and bent,

i have a beam for sale in kent btw... ;)

is it straight, and where abouts in Kent are you buddy??? and how much would you be after for it??

and looking at those camber shims, they wont work for me as i have too much negative, need to add to it??

how are the bushes?

am next to bluewater, greenhithe, am after £65, its complete with stub axles, shields, lines and bushes and its straight too. I have it (with lots of other bits) in my for sale ad My link

Standard setup should not require shims, so something must be up by the sound of it.

cant see how bushes would affect camber angle on a fixed beam?? maybe on independant. any how bushes seem to be ok. this problem is bugging me lol

no it shouldnt, but its worth checking none the less, no visible damage/movement to the beam mounts i take it?

oooh your near me Oet.

Camber shims picture are for giving the top of my alloys more tuck to fit under the arches as the car is so slammed. they are also good for handling when set up correctly.

In regards to your car i would say somthings wrong/bent. there is not adjustment on the rear beams hence me getting shims. i dont think shims would help your problem. But in answer to your question, the kit was about £20 off ebay i think. Eibach kit.

yes we are near

i used to have camber and castor adjusters on my octy, def helps combined with the right associated mods.

i understand why you use them gee-man, but i agree, for the op the issue is elsewhere, and shims will not help him,

there is no adjustabilty on the stock beam

i just spoke on your parts thread.... Oet.
