Drivers door stiff to open and close

Featured Replies

Hello :hi: everybody! I have had a little search in previous threads but to no avail. My drivers door is stiff to open and close and makes a slight dum dum dum noise as you either open or close it sorry about that (certainly doesn't sound like a Golf :giggle:) All the other doors are fine, I have tried WD40 and grease but nothing. So today I de-greased it all and looked properly.

It would appear that on the bottom hinge there is a large plastic coated U type shaped clip thingy, and as the door passes over it it bends back slightly, being plastic coated I presume its meant to run over with less resistance. I noticed that my plastic coating has gone and the metal beneath has also started to be eaten away with the movement of the door.

I think this will be the issue, does anyone else know of this issue or have any idea to the part number of the offending item. It looks like it will separate from the main hinge.

Cheers Guys.

Sound like your door isn't hanging right.

When closed, does it sit in frame identically to the passanger door ?

I did have a quick look at that and all looked ok on quick inspection, I will check again tomorrow in natural light though. There is defiant ware though on the part I mentioned earlier that isn't apparent on the passenger door. But like I say come tomorrow I will check, doesn't bother me cause I am dead strong :D its the wife I feel sorry for. But there again its my car. I hope she hasn't joined and is reading this
