Celtic Tuning

Featured Replies

First post:

As the title says really. My dads mate has had his vRS done by these guys by one of their mobile engineers and has said good things about them. They also have a few good testimonials on their site and a 12 month warranty ect. They seem to know their stuff but I am new to it all.

The only thing is they are boasting a fair amount higher gains that what I have seen from other companys (around 30hp and 45lbft)

and just wanted to check if you guys think it will be safe for the clutch and standard turbo?

Heres what they are saying on their site:

ORIG MOD +/-

Power (Bhp) 130 193 +63

Torque (Lbft) 228 309 +81

They also have a picture of a rolling road graph if you go on their main site and fill in the request a quote bit from drop down options.

Any help/opinions appreciated

Cheers

Matt :)

Hmm, must be an optimistic dyno.

No way will a standard turbo run 193 bhp. It runs out of puff about 175. Even that's pushing it really.

193 is OTT, but I've not heard of a celtic map going bad. You down in the Westcountry as I know they are more prominent in this area.

Avoid celtic tuning - they had a go at mapping my car, not a clue what they where upto.

Fair enough, not a diesel, and a stage 3 setup, but still, no excuse given the claims on the website and claims made when speaking to the head tuner.

I dealt with them directly at the their Roche HQ. Extremely rude, unwilling to tell me what was going on, refused to let me speak to the head tuner who was supposed to be working on the car.

Had to go in with car trailer and demand both my car and money back.

Other stories in the Octavia 1 section of their pitiful attempts at mapping.

Thanks for the advice snow_muncher! Shouldn't matter on circumstances on the car should it, they should be able to perform a decent map on it that is what they are claiming!!

As an update guys, I am looking at going to www.w8performance.co.uk who are a registered Shark dealer, they must be worthy if Shark have chosen them?! What do you reckon?
