Sad day for Skoda owners

Featured Replies

im not gona say what area or any names but i just wana say that in my neck of the woods there is a man who as charged for down loadin child porn pics of the internet his name was in the local papers and i know someone who lives in his street, i was drivig past his house the other day and to my horror saw him pullin on his drive in a furby vrs!!! sad day for skoda owners, knowin someone like that owns the same car as we love and enjoy. :(

Unfortuntely Skoda don't choose who they sell cars to, if you have the readies then they will sell you a car.

Renault Espace drivers probably thought the same thing when Harold Shipman was done for murder.

As long as you DONT SEE A BRISKODA STICKER on the car.

If he is know, and been in the papers, I am suprised that he hasnt been harrassed yet.

( not that I condone that type of action, as it makes you no better than the young "people" who were shot at with the air pistol by the teacher ).

Hmmmm , "downloading child porn" can cover a very wide range of circumstances from people actively involved in abusing children at one end of the scale down to people who have inadvertantly ended up with a few small images in their browser cache.

I don't expect anyone to admit to anything here , but if you have ever been to some more adult websites (and I don't necessarily mean porn) then you have at some point almost certainly had pop up windows appear containing pictures of ladies under 18 in a state of undress.

A copy of that image would be stored in your cache. You have then committed the offence of making an indecent picture of a child under 18 and would if convicted be put on the sex offenders register for 7 years.

Likewise for people who do download adult porn off the net , it's not unheard of for images to be misdescribed and what you thought was legal turns out not to be.

It's for that reason that people shouldn't be so hasty to judge others based on a newspaper article.

Yes , there are people who actively seek out child porn who deserve everything they get , but don't assume that everyone charged is in that group

That's not quite true, to commit the offence you need to "copy" the image onto your computer and store it onto a diskR v. Bowden, also in UK law the child can be classed as an adult if over 16 years of age, after all that is the age of consentual sex.

Reading that link it doesn't look conclusive either way to me. Your browser will "download" the image to your disk. It will be stored in whatever folder you have your browser cache to be configured as.

But by not copying the image, you have not commited the offence, the cache is not classed as stored, to quote a line from the link "A person who either downloaded images on to disc or who printed them out was making them.", if they were put there by another program you cannot commit the offence as you have not downloaded them.

As much as I hate the pervs some reported in the press are found entirely innocent in court, but once the press label you and your local community get wind of your identity the damage is done.

One example is a computer which was found to contain a lot of child porn, and the owner was bombarded with publicity and had his house/car attacked. Forensic reports proved beyond doubt that the accused had not actively gone looking for it, had not actively been distributing it and had not actively downloaded it. Turned out to be a trojan downloading it, caching it somewhere and then uploading it back onto the web. The guy was innocent but had his life ruined.

Sorry , but you are very much wrong there.

There are people who have been convicted and put on the sex offenders register based solely on the contents of the browser cache.

The contents of the cache are a file ,just the same as it would be if you had made an extra copy

Indeed - otherwise it would be a horrendous loophole in the system, as an offender could simply save all their files in the internet cache and avoid prosecution!

Rob.

What a stupid thread. Skoda is owned by VW, who were set up with the assistance of Hitler using Nazi cash plundered from the 6 million Jews that were murdered during the second world war.
