HELP ! NO HEAT

Featured Replies

Only just realised that the Cliamatronic is blowing just cold air regardless of the setting.

As I'm away from home, I can't check the book for fuses etc.

Any suggestions ?

Colleague ignored heater not working and cooked his engine. Ruined it. Probably not the problem but worth checking.

I dont follow ?

Cold air can be a sign of an air lock usually or thermostat fault....if not fuse related.

Is the temp guage working??

if the water pump is not circulating the coolant then then the heater will remain cold, and the engine temp gauge may show normal temps since no hot coolant is flowing through it either even though the rest of the engine is very hot and overheating.

your problem could just be a sticking / stuck flap motor that controls the airflow over the heater matrix.

I'd wager a stuck or faulty flap motor as said.

My colleague had a water leak so not hot water was getting to the heater matrix. He kept driving it regardless and cooked the engine.

Cheers guys.

Is there possibly a simple solution like a fuse to check before going to the dealer ?

If so, which one as I mentiond I have no manual with me.

If not a fuse, is the repair a straightforward one as I'm away for a few days.

the heater wont be fused, only the fan

Here's the fuse related section from the manual if it's any help:-

Cheers guys :-)

Jonny, may seem obvious but have you checked the coolant level? If it's it very low you won't get any hot air. The heater matrix will be dry or mostly dry depending on where your level of coolant is. Start looking of a leak if it is low. Hope you get it sorted.

Could it be the temp sensor inside the car damaged or disconnected so it's reading a higher temperature and therefore trying to cool the car down by sending out cold air?

Took it to Skoda Liverpool 8am this morning.

Left it with them and came back at 12 before service finished.

They said they checked all the pipes etc and all is functional. He said that the dash will have to be removed in order that the 'electrical' issue can be identified/remedied.

They're booked up for days and that's left me 150 miles away for 5 days without any heat.

It wouldn't be so much of an issue if it wasn't bloody freezing out ! Try driving without any heat for a day. I've had to buy a tiny heater from Maplin to take the edge off the cold and plugged iy in the 12v socket.

Tell you what though, although I understand that everything doesn't last forever, I'm pretty much peed off at the moment and unimpressed .....

My son in law has the opposite problem on a Golf. The temp sensor is stuck on -50c his system continually pumps out hot air.He had it fixed last year but the fault returned after a couple of months. At least he can open the windows I guess.

As I see your problem, Air is being blown by the fan so not a fuse problem, hot water is circulating (confirmed by dealer) The ducts must be clear for cold air to come out. That only leaves the temp sensor and any valve associated with it. Good luck BB

Car was picked up this morning and is now sorted.

It was a sticking 'flap' of some sort if I recall them saying, but it's done & dusted now. Great service BTW from Border Cars, Lillyhall, Cumbria
