18" Tyres For Lowered Vrs

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I am buying BBS ch 18" wheels (edit: Offset is ET35 and they are 8" width) and I can have to choose between

215/40 r18 and

215/35 r18

I just put Weitec coilover under the car from Damian here at DPM and lowered the car 5cm.

Do you think I'll have rubbing issues with the 215/40 tyres?

I am currently running new 205/55r16 and they rub a little.

any opinons? :D

here are some pics of the car:

id say offset will be your enemy more so than tyre width, BBS's 8.5 wide a et30?

or are they reps

215/35.18 should be a little stretch so should be ok

that said my ch's work out a et30 on a 8x19, the tyres tuck under but i can if im being a huge fool and find the right bump make the front catch :drunk: that said reversing up onto my drive im pretty sure the back try and bury themselves in the arch

im using a 215/35/19

Cheers bud ,

8x18 et 35 is a widely use set up, i had mine lowered on 8x18 et35 with 225/40/18 with no trouble

So with a 215/35/18 and a. Little stretch ( barley )

I reken you'll get it down even more

I had mine wound down abit on 8x20s to et35 with 225/30/20s

That was pirelli p zero neros, but.... When my bro had them he used a different tyre and had rubs

Falkens are a good tyre and used alot with the low dub folk

Fk452s stretch and look very neat

I went with rainsport 2s that have stretched neat

So.... I reken with 215/35/18s u could sit him on the deck :)

Okay I see. I dont want to lower him more hehe but do you think I can get away with 215/40r18 ? :D with this height

Cant see why 215/40s wouldnt be ok

As said alot use 225/40 so your have abit more room, and abit less stretch too due to more sidewall bud are they tyres coming on the wheels or have you got to get them after ?

okay thank you sir,

I am buing the tires with the wheels all in the same package. £1015 delivered plus tax so that is enough for me :)

and uh one last question m8,

do you think falken tyres that cost £100 per tyre is good enough :) og do I have to go up to £160, what did you do?

falken fk452s are widely used and praised bud  they were my other option when i went rainsports

ive got falken ze912s on our altea and they arnt badm the fk452 is the next up, but i beleve they are now doing a fk453

whether or not its replacing the 452 ( i hope not as i was tempted to put them on my spiders seeing they look very cool )

if money grew on trees no doubt we'd all have top tyres but our pockets can afford what our pockets can afford

no doubt tyres get very much better, but tbh ive got the rainsports, im known to drive like its taken without permission at times

and woo its still the correct way up  "for now" lol

you will always get haters and lovers of falkens from my experience tho, but im a fan,the main prob is they wear quick

but im sure you'll be pleased bud ;)

id like some toyo r1r's but....... wallet says no :punch:

ooo meant to ask :wonder: is it black ir silver your getting bud

both options will work but i reckon a lot will depend on how much you intend to lower it,i run 215 35 18 on all my 8" rims as it allows me to go a little bit lower than running a 40 profile but if your not lowering it much then 35 profile may look a bit lost in the arches where as 40 profile will fill it out a little bit better and with 35 profile you feel the pot holes a lot more so its personal preferance really

I run ET26 8J with 215/35/18 with. Cheeky stretch :-)

How much? I just paid £650.00 fitted for 18" CH Reps with Falken 912 (I wanted this tyre)

I'm getting silver, I have always had black so its time for a change and if I don't like them silver I'll just paint them black :D however I think black suits the car better but they will be silver at least the first summer.

hmm okay I am going to have the car 5cm lower than the factory standard as it is on the pictures :). How much is your car lowered when you have the 215/35 tyres? I don't mind the pot holes hehe :)

same offset and size wheels you're talking about with 215/40/18. the occasional scrub on the back and was down 50mm approx

I don't actually know how much its lowered by to be honest but it's currently on these tsw wheels which are 8x18 et 35 on 215/35/18 on the front

DSC_0053-1.jpg

And it's summer wheels which are 8x18 on the front with adaptors and with the adaptors included the final et is 19 on 215/35/18 but my arches are rolled and the arch liners are cut etc so that et may be a problem with standard arches

DSC_0379.jpg

Got some different wheels going on this Saturday too which again are 8x18 with 215/35/18 and with adaptors the final et will be 32 but no pics yet but I personally like 35 profile as I prefer the look of a smaller sidewall and I like that Its a few mm lower on them but the choice is yours

225/40/18 is the correct size to keep gearing and speedo spot on.
