Octavia 1.2Tsi Dsg

Featured Replies

Normally over on the Fabia channel but presently considering a very good deal from my dealer on a 1.2 Octy with the dsg box. Basically I need something a bit wider and bigger due to impending arrival of new Grandchild  and as I get older I fancy an auto box. Just wondering if anyone out there has such a beast and what the views are on both engine and use of dsg box..

This car is about 7 months old, in SE version, low miles going for £10700 which I think is not bad...All views welcome..thanks

I think there are many threads on this topic over on the Fabia II section as I've not heard of many 1.2 TSI DSG Octavias sold in this country. Will give you some idea of what you are looking for though the performance and economy will be slightly worse as more weight to move around. From what I've heard it seems to be a well matched combination.

I had the pleasure (no, honestly) of driving a hired Ibiza for a few days recently when the company wagon was off the road, and it had the 1.2 engine at 102ps and dsg box. Well, the car is lighter than an octavia so the performance was sprightly, but in addition the dsg box was great! 7 gears and the readout in the centre box telling me what gear it was in. One thing surprised me, though, was how eager it was to get into higher gears, no doubt for economy. Since being back in the old car, I have adjusted my gear changing in a similar fashion and mpg has improved dramatically.

If you can trust the figures in the Octavia brochure the dsg box has better economy for urban, presumably because it is happy to change up even for a short distance, whereas most of us would leave it in 2nd or 3rd to save the hassle.

Just my 2p worth.

How does an octavia even move with a 1.2 ;(
