How do i remove the trim around bonnet handle release?

Featured Replies

I need to replace a connector block withint he A-pillar of the door hinge area. The wire are very short though and if I could get to them from the inside of the car it would make life a lot easier.

As a result I want to remove the trim aroudn the bonnet release handle, hoping to find the wires coming through the car frame there.

1) How do i remove the bonnet release handle?

2) The trim seems to be held on by a big plastic screw near the accelerator pedal, and a hex nut behind the onnet release handle. Are these the only screws holding it in place?

3) Finally, will the door wiring loom be exposed behind these bits of plastic?

Cheers guys :)

Hi Ive replaced two bonnet release handles and mounting brackets on my octavia if I remember rightly there is some wiring behind the panel. You need to prise off the bonnet handle, unscrew the round plastic washer near the accelerator pedal, then unclip the door rubber so all of the trim edge is exposed, slightly lift the foot rest of the trim and move it to the left be careful as it sits on a retaining clip then where the trim is above the sill pull the trim hard upwards towards the roof it will pop out and can be removed. The hex bolt you mentioned is to hold the bonnet release mounting bracket onto the body and will not need to be removed to remove the trim. Good luck :-)
