Enjoyed My vRS Tonight

Featured Replies

Since buying my RS in December and loving it for the first month or so, i've sort of fallen out of love with it for various reasons such as sh**e suspension that needs an overhaul, cr*p front tires that will spin up in third in dry conditions, and just feeling old and tired compared to my previous 280bhp 06 Siggy 2.8T I had a little repreive tonight. I pulled up behind a 328 BMW at a set of lights on my way home from work that lead on to a 60 mph road that runs through a forest . I could hear the dtm exhaust fitted to the BMW before I could see it and even muted my stereo thinking somethinh was wrong with my own car lol. Any way I pulled up be hind it and the driver was reving it up so I thought two can play at that game so I gave ot a few revs with DV dumping to which he replied witha couple of straight 6 growls. Any way lights turned grenn and he floored it so I followed. We never exceeded speed limits but the whole way along I was all over his ass acceleration wise with plenty left to spare. I think he was quite surprised tbh and I realised why I liked the car in the first place. Ultimate Q car in my eyes.

  • I beat a ferrari f360 the otherday! We where going along, ripping through the gears, dodging through the traffic, it was like being in fast and the furious! Then the turbo kicked in pushing my car to

Still on topic.... There are still two more spaces left on the "How Fast are Briskoda" day... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/224375-how-fast-are-briskoda/page__pid__2703798__st__390#entry2703

  • Yeah, but Xa0Sx will be there...

I call that playing the overtaking game. haha.

It's a surprising car! Especially for situations like this. You can drive it quite happily and sedately, but when push comes to shove it will defiantly shove!

I remember once I was coming back home and had a merc sitting up my rear end, late at night and the right hand lane was free so I didn't really see the point. As we got up to the massive straight dual carridge way he pulled out and over took finally! Got close to my window, gave me a filthy then tried to pull away.

After he pulled back in, rather irate!, I decided to show him how it was done, So I pulled out in 5th at 50 and destroyed him.

He did not like that at all and at every stop he ripped it off and I still kept pace without driving like a tit.

Its all ways fun to make some one else feel stupid in a car they think will p*ss all over yours. Just before I sold my Siggy I pulled up next to an 06 Porsche Boxter at a set of lights on a dual carriage way on my way home from work again. He looked over and nodded and as the the lights went green we both set off. We were neck and neck till I hit third when the 2.8T V6 Turbo mapped lump comes in to its own and I left him for dead. When we got to the next set of lights and he finally caught up he looked across wound down his window and said WTF is under the bonnet! So I told him a turbo diesel and went on my way lol. Obviously I was lying but I bet it made him think. I think I just drove the rest of the way home on pure adrenalin.

328's aint that quick tbh

I danced all over a 330i coupe in my old diesel fabia vrs (+200bhp) and the guys face was priceless, utter devastation

Oh but just remember this can go horribly wrong as i am still serving a 12 month ban for playing with a CTR so maybe should keep it to a race track :)

Ouch!

Coupled with an £800 fine and my insurance has trebled

Jeeeeeesus... your insurance must be more than what the Octy VRS is worth!

I used to get boy racers in trouble lol, once was at a set of lights with a chaved up corsa behind me revving its engine, reved mine a few times floored it when the lights turned green indicted and turned left while he kept on going right past the marked police car sat at the bus stop lol.

Did try and keep up with a r8 once from 30 to 70 but he was gone by time I reached 50 it was like one of those scenes out of mad max!

Back when i had my old fabia as much of a rally car that it was i used to drive like a boy racer everywhere just because it was a slow car that was done up to be fast and had to be driven hard.

Now in the octy i find myself driving sensibly everywhere i know it will take alot of cars so i let it surprise people, been making a habit recently of putting boy racers in golfs in their place! Mind you wait till ive done more mods to it and put in the hybrid turbo im sure people will be surprised even more haha mind you im upgrading brakes at the mo as i like it when i can stop. The standard brakes are a bit pants haha.

£400 before conviction, £1400 after... Tbh id rather pay than drive around in a 1.0l

I was pretty sensible with mine the only time I remember being a bit silly was going to overtake a Megane Convertible on a 2 lane bit of the A25 near Seal Chart one night and the driver put their foot down, I should have just pulled back in but was already going past them (albeit slowly!) but suffice to say I had to drop a gear and we were both doing naughty speeds when I finally got round them. I was a bit shocked to say the least at how quick it was but apparently they come with a 165bhp 2 litre turbo engine and my Octy was only standard 180bhp.

Must admit since I've got my octy everyone says I've slowed down and drive more smoothly. I put it down to that I've got a powerful car I know what it can do and I don't have to prove it lol

I've slowed down since getting my vrs as I've gone from a 50+mpg derv to doing 27mpg in the vrs lol

Just book up for a track day then when there drive it like you stole it ! Reasonably safe and you sure won't get nicked !

What's a Siggy?

What's a Siggy?

vauxhall signum lol

Fast dricing on public roads ain't good lol.

A Bora tried it on with the vRS a few months ago, but I ended up losing it and bending my rear axle. Not doing that again.

p.s. I Won though :-)

Ouch lol

done.

I know the comment "It aint big and it aint clever" has been made, but at the end of the day there was a reason why we all got the vRS. Not only is it comfortable, good looking, Spacious but mainly its fast.

I don't drive mine like a tit 24/7 (mainly because of petrol haha) but I do drive it like it should be driven and I only push it properly at night when the roads are empty and have a limit of 70. If I get caught then that's my fault but I would never put anyone in danger to prove anything.

Just my two cents.

went to see a forum member today to quote him on some work. on the way back i find myself catching up with a alfa spider 3.0 v6 (google says 256bhp) up the big hill by brands hatch. he was 2 up i was alone. and he gave it some beans. had a little tare from the lights and stopped for the next set ready to go down the slip road for the a20. got to the end of the shevrons in 3rd and toed it. chased him all the way and had to come off the loud pedal as i was up his bum bum. obviously i never once went past 73mph  but owning quite alot of mk4 platform cars i got to say im very impressed with the vRS. The alfa was not to pleased when the estate car went past him! i dont know why or how i keeped up with a 250bhp car but i did! he had a loud exhaust system on the car and was hammering it all the way. this is the first time i have stretched the vrs`s legs... shocked.com

i suppose it aint all about high numbers its how its used and more imporantly how the car delivers it to the road. Could the skoda be the best 1.8T i have owned out of the audis, dubs and seats?? i think i love it!

no alfas were harmed in the making of this thread.

And on the funny side of that.... his mpg was probably 4 where as your was more at 27mpg. So not only did you own him on the roads but you owned him at the petrol station as well!

Mine made me smile this morning too!

The way it rushes from 70 to 130 is immense. The standard turbo is so well matched. Love it.

Racing on the road ends in tears 99% of the time, so I only race myself now! Having said that, I did get bum raped by a unmarked 320d on the M3 the other day. So insulting. Pulled by a diesel BMW.
