Big changes due in the next few weeks.

Do tell, or at least give us a hint :wonder:

That's an impressive list of work!

That's an impressive list of work!

Surprising how it adds up!

any pics of the seats fitted?

Don't think I have actually. I'll take some.

Nope :bandit:

New turbo under warranty??

Surely thats a con with the mods and the map?

  • Author

How do you mean?

Well you got a turbo under warranty?

Yet the car is remapped?? So you really shouldn't have got a turbo under warranty??

  • Author

You're quite right. I'll give it them back at the first opportunity.

Lol.... Lets hope this one doesnt go bang outwith warranty ;)

You've got to see such events as an excuse to upgrade. Next turbo definitely won't be stock.

if any of those changes include the flogging of parts Nick, give me a shout!

My god I love this diff. Phenomenally good fun.

Today's favourite corner was turning off the A616 heading for Woodhead Road.

I know of it well :) I've been travelling down woodhead road for the last few weeks with the road works on the A61 :(

.. that's one of the reasons I write the blog. I can never remember part numbers, costs, mileages etc.

How do you get on with the recaros? I'd love a set of these but i don't want to give up my OE heated seats AND i know the kiddie would kick the hell out of the shiny backs.

Those roadworks are pretty annoying. Glad I got the diff in time for them though. I'm doing woodhead most days now. :)

Love them. Very comfy. Great lumbar support. Miles better lateral support than OE seats, which complements coilovers and the LSD nicely. If you retrim them you can add heating elements very easily. I may do this at some point.

I've got a couple of little marks on the back of them from less careful people. I'm going to have to be quite careful getting the baby seat in and out off the isofix - good thing for that though is you can tip the seat forward out of the way as they're for 3 door cars too. Longer term I think I'll vinyl the back of them.

vinyl is a good idea. where did you source them?

pics?

I've not got any pics. Can't really take any at the moment as the interior is in bits (again lol). I got them from a guy on edition38 classifieds. He'd had them sitting in his garage brand new, never fitted to a car for like two years or more. They were to go in a show car but he never finished the project. Eventually his wife moaning about them wore him down and he had to flog them.

I just love this car now. It's so satisfying to drive with the diff and new clutch / flywheel setup. I was toying with the idea of chopping it in in a year or so for a superb for the extra space but I just don't think I can. It's too good. Other project plans are still temporarily stalled but it should still be ready for the summer.

Anyway - point of the post - just buy yourself an LSD. I guarantee you won't regret it.

Spent a few hours on Wednesday on the paintwork...

Washed with Megs shampoo and washing up liquid.

Iron-X

As I wasn't machining it afterwards I used Megs clay which I've found to minimise clay marring, lubed with 50% Last Touch.

AG SRP

2 coats Poor Boys Black Hole

Chemical Guys Black Light.

Results are great and no clay marring. Had a few people say how good the paint looked at Inters. I'd do the same process again.

Added the air ride stuff to the spec list in the original post above.

Took the snapped drop link out and the one off the other side, so driving it with the ARB disconnected for a while. Swapped that rear bag out just in the nick of time too!

Ordered a Laser 10point 8mm bit for splitting my wheels. Can't wait to get to work on that. Should look nice when they're finished (also some nice nocturnal daffodil action) ...

Then, we're notching a week on Tuesday plus a bit of interior / audio work. Oh and cutting the lips out of the rear arches. Then I need to get the rear arches pulled slightly soon. Hopefully refurbing one of my other sets of wheels next week, partly to assess the quality of powder coat at a place I've not used before. If it's good then I can take my other wheels there.

A random shot from the office car park I quite liked. Evidently foggy in the multi-storey that day. :giggle:
