First attempt at few pictures . . .

Featured Replies

Few pictures I took on saturday after a car cleaning session with my mate and fellow fabia owner. This is my first attempt at actually trying to take a good picture, until now it`s all been fairly "point and shoot" with my phone.

It was a bit impromptu, by the time we had finished cleaning and got out to take pictures we were already loosing light. So off we trotted with my other made in tow who`s s****y camera I was borrowing. It started out with him taking a few snaps of us going along the road together, now although he is into his photography, he isnt interested in cars at all. So I thought i`d give it a bash. We kinda gave up on the moving pictures after half hour as it was too busy really with other traffic getting in the way, so we then went on a bit of a whim to a very sketchy place my mate was talking about and found a nice derelict petrol station to grab some snaps at. Light went quickly so I only had an about a hour, so we then went on to the usual multi story car park. I`m not much of a fan of these for pictures, but my mate wanted some of his car there so I took a few.

Anyway, here are some i`v picked out, comments and criticism very much welcome, I quite enjoyed taking them so would be good to get some pointers on how to improve them for the future. I`v not done anything with them apart from cover the plates in paint, all I know about the camera was it was a cannon lol. He forgot his tripod too, which would have been useful.

I like the multi storey pictures better, mainly just because of the lighting.

Yep, liking the multi storey ones and the one near the boarded up building, very atmospheric.

Do like the 4th none down too, a bit of a crop on that, level it up and it'd be great.

Top work matt

the ones on the road are a bit meh

the boarded up garage is a great location and means some good pics

the night time ones look great

however there is some ridiculous SE with yellow bits on it which ruins almost all of them :D (chris is nothing if not individual!)

I noticed both car headlights are steaming up? Bit of photoshop wizardary will make it shine 10 folds

Mind if I grab some pics from you for photoshop practice? Im learning some photoshopping atm :)

 He relayed your comment to be when we were cleaning. I like it, but I reckon the badges will help tie it in a little better hopefully.

Not at all buddy, feel free.

Cheers for the comments guys, think i`ll get my mate to crop a few and tidy them up a bit, think I might have another bash this week, gonna try using some cheap light strips in the dark maybe.

I agree about the lighting in the car park being better, but also agree about them being a bit cliche! lol. I like your idea of using your own lights, especially if you find an obscure setting where the lighting looks unusual, be interested to see the results!

I'm afraid I have to say that the yellow on that poor SE makes me want to cry.... lol

The fifth picture down in the derelict garage is my favourite picture, both look super clean. I'd love to get some rolling shots of my car done. But I don't have the rigging or the expensive SLR camera or the know how lol.
