8,5x18" rims for vrs

Featured Replies

Hello again,,

I have cancelled the BBS rims and I am now considering buying the 3SDM wheels from Wheels projex, http://wheelsworldwi.../3sdm/0_01/sdcf

They only come in 18x 8.5", do you think that is okay or will the tyre go outside of the arch? I'm not sure what the offset is but i think et35, or et45.

I know 8" is okay but Anyone tried 8,5", I didnt see many close up pics on the Rimfest..

Tomas.

hmmm so this does not fit i guess :( It seems that the wheel goes outside the arch

what if i take et45 8,5" wheels, they would probably be more inward?

Stretch the tyre, 215/35/18 and some coilovers lol

I wish i went 8.5x19s on my bbs's , cant afford them again tho lol

Those rims are nice tho mate, they really do some tasty wheels

The wheels I'm looking at are this size too, I was thinking ET45 then space out to suit, rather than get the 35 and have them poke too much

I don't want my wheel to go this far, this certainly does not fit but thanks for the pic m8 :)

Okay, I was thinking about 215/40/18 but I can also buy 215/35/18. My car is lowered 5cm so I guess I'm safer with the tyres you suggested :)

Yeah I really like your rims though, I'd probably buy them if they were not twice as expensive as the SDM wheels hehe :giggle:

Okay, I aggree that that is the safest option, but I am so scared that even if I take ET45 the wheels will go outside the arch and poke too much. I'll guess I'll have to take the chance ;)

What wheels are you looking to buy?

Its the profile that will cause and form the better stretch quicker ,mate, the lower the profile the less rubber there is to give

So a 35 profile will pull in under the arch quicker than a 40 or say like a 60 profile

Which is why some loony lupo folk will use something insane like a 135/75/13 on a 9j rim

Random info but if you have a nose here

http://www.tyrestretch.com/

It give an idea of what you can fet under your arch :)

The lip of my rims are just out as they are the genuine so work out a et30

I do love them

That said, not everyone is a stretchy person

I'd like to aim for as little stretch as possiblem but don't mind a little to help.

It's when you get to being able to put your finger between the lip of the rim and the tyre that it concerns me

I cant remember...... Is it coilovers you got bud ??

They are the key :)

If it dont rub ..... Wind it down

If it rubs a little ...... Wind it down a little

LoL

Im trying to think how to go lower ????? Theres some members i beleve our on my to message list :)

That site is good to see what tyres stretch like on what width rims

Some are crazy

Okay I am more concerned with the wheel poking too much outward.

Your 19" don't poke outward so I think this is the maximum outward I want to go:

However I don't want this to happen, I dont like the wheel so much outside the arch:

You have

8"

Et 30 (et50 + 20mm H&R pcd)

215/35/19s

and I am considering

8,5"

ET45

215/35/18s

This should mean that your wheels extend (45-30)mm -0,5"=15mm-12,5mm=2,5mm more than the wheels I am considering?

Thanks for the site, some really good pics there :)

Dunno if anyhelp bud

i run 18x8" et35 fronts, and 18x9" et35 rears, all with 215 35 18 tyres, with 5mm spacers also fitted at the rear to bring them to et30, and they sit like this, with the fronts sitting inside the arch fine, but the rears definitely poking somewhat with a bit of stretch. going to invest in some 10mm spacers for the front, and even then they will still be within the arch

thats awesome mate, i keep peeking on rimstyles site to see if they do a genuine 8.5 or 9x19 in the same fitments as mine

Hmmm it didnt quote pics ???

Well i still fancy wider rears, but the genuines seem to be et35 8.5x 19s in 5x112

Maybe i'll go for the rears on the mk2 when i swap :)

cheers guys

if im honest, i never even intended to get the rear 9s, went lookin for 8s all round in satin black, but the guy in the shop could only lay his hands on staggered silver sets, and to get my business he did me the wheel and tyre package plus bolts and lockers for 600quid all fitted up n balanced etc, i couldnt even get near that on ebay!

the fronts i just wana space slightly as im gettin loadsa rubbing on the inner arch i think it is on full lock. plus the fronts look a bit lost, so just gonna try the 10mm spacers and see how they look. would drop it a bit more on the nose but im scared to death of pinging my sump! so until i can make up a stainless sump guard, im keepin the front riding a bit higher

heres a pic from the front from the weekend

thats how an 18x8" et35 with a 215 35 18 tyre sits, no spacers fitted

You have, 5x100 now right? That is the correct fitment for these cars :)

Its does look wicked :)

Its the advantage you get with reps, u get amazing width options and more user friendly offsets

Curse my ocd's :(

I have 5x112 et50s and 20mm h&r adaptors bud

Im planning on a mk2 estate mid to end of next year , so i can take em with me

And maybe upgrade the rears to et35 8.5x19s

hehe okay I see, wasnt that a bit problem changing from 5x100 to 5x112 ? adn why didnt u get them first in 5x100?

I could afford to buy genuine ones for both, i was going to change cars this year , but i dont think thats going to work :(

Lol my mrs was going to have my brain examined for spending that much as it was, let alone if was only for a year

Least this way i can take them with me to my next one

I want a white vrs estate

Or what i really wanted was a mk5 r32 in silver or blue - but cant see that happening, i refuse to pay the tax

The h&r pcd adaptors made it pretty easy, they bolt on the hub then the wheel bolts to the adaptor :)
