8,5x18" rims for vrs

Featured Replies

originally i wasnt going to get anything extravagant wheel wise, was maybe intending to just buy some 2nd hand audi reps or something, but i kind of couldnt resist, what with reps being so cheap! i actually bought the wheels a week before i got the car, put the deposit on it on the sunday, bought the wheels the monday, and then picked the car up the following friday lol.

bear in mind this is a work horse and carries round all my mobile car body repair gear, so has a compressor in the back, plus a boot full of painting gear. amazingly the rears hardly scrub, the rear arch lips are quite forgiving on these VAG motors, im used to old fords with horrid sharp lips! on large bumps at higher speeds the arches get close enough to remove the tyre shine off the tyres, but not damage the rubber.....yet lol

Remember what they say bud

" if it ain't scrubbin it ain't dubbin "

lol everyone love some rubbing hehe

thanks for the help guys,

I don't wanna take chance that 8,5" will poke to much so

I ordered BBS ch 18" reps silver 8" et35 with 215/35 dunlop tyres.

Will post pics when it is under.

Good work bud, will be cool :)

Et35 8,5 would be fine , it only a extra 6mm each side :) lol

So prob only 1mm further out than mine

How about 8s front and 8.5 rear :) hehe

Look forward to pics

if you are sticking with 8s, might be worth maybe going with a 225 40 tyre instead, especially if you dont intend to go real low, will fill the arch much better, and also give a slightly better ride

when i was intending 8s all round, i was gonna go with 225 40 tyres, but due to having 9s, i had to go for stretch so went 215 35 all round

just an option for you if its not too late. my 215 35 tyres on the 8" fronts dont fill the arch as much as i would like, so im gonna have to go lower i think :( lol

okay thanks for this, but I have now 205/55r16 and the diameter is less than diameter of 225/40r18 and now they rub when I turn the wheels to left and right so I definately need 215/35r18 to avoid this.

The car is lowered 5cm and that is why they rub.

But thanks anyway m8 :), 215/35 will hopefully look good on my car :D

Some folk randomly have trouble with 225s, i had mine wound down on the 20s and didnt catch, they were et35

I must agree tho, with my 215/35/19s i look at the front and think can it go down ...... Hehe also think that with the back :) hmmmm maybe i'll push my luck

Like them 3sdm rims and would of been good to see them on an octy but the ch reps will look good and like the staggered set up that Andy has on the estate, look forward to seeing them fitted :)

Try XXR 527's, they come in 8.25"

if you want XXR rims, my mate gets them at discounted rates ;)

If you think you might have scrubbing probs, try a 205/40/18 gives a nice little stretch also.
