Spread a little happiness with my big mouth, that's me...

Glad I didn't cut my crash bar - it's a WOF (MOT) failure here and I would have had to pay $500 to get it certified. Assuming they said it was okay - they could require it to be re-instated as standard.

An unmolested, hence still structurally safe Forge crash bar & FMIC

worth paying the extra for the quality and ease of fitment!

this trimming of the crash bar, any pics of this being done? i dont fancy cutting my bar in half as i got kids to think of, but this trimming looks like good comprimise. (spelling)

my IC is 600x300x76 so i know ill have to nip a bit off. Ill be running 2.5" pipes.

I cut my crash bar then got a friend to weld a couple of lengths of flat steel onto it to strengthen it back up again

Evening all , would a 550x140x65mm FMIC be too small or just the right size ? its a universal FMIC .

Its not as much the size of it its the pipework involved to plum it in, with a universal job they usually have inlet at one side out outlet at other, that is all well and good but if you intend to run pipework from pancake pipe then you will have to plum pipework back to drivers side to throttle body.

I made a bigger one than that fit, i prob have a pic earlier in this thread but i did 225 manifold conversion and moved throttle body onto other side to help reduce the lag created front a single pass front mount

Think mine is something like 500x300x65, little on the large side but does work with little lag

I mounted last week a Toyosports kit for a Octavia 1 .

First I did some test fitting to look for problems

p1010564a.th.jpg

p1010560r.th.jpg

p1010563.th.jpg

the only thing i did change was a map sensor mounting place and one voor de vacuum and another pipe for the DV:

aansluitingmapsensor.th.jpg

The originele flex piece on the intake is still there because de fitting pipe from the IC to the intake manifold was one pieces en fits directly in that flex piece behind the xenon headlight:

p1010562s.th.jpg

I only need to make a few brakets to mount the intercooler on the inside bumper:

p1010639c.th.jpg

And When you have a AC you need to modify the pipe wich will come against the AC pipe on the left side. We did take a hamer and did make the pipework a little flatter to keep is from rubbing each other.

Then replace the bumper en i have take A little bit behind the side intake's but the grills I did not have to modify.

Overal i did not have that many problems what everybody says. And overal it looks great en OEM when you make it black like me. The final picture's:

I read on the THS site that this kit requires modification to fit the octavia as its designed for a mkIV golf. did you have any probs fitting it? or have to cut any bumper/bodywork? as im seriously interested in this kit.

Same intercooler is now on my VRS as I bought it off Jase. It needed little bits cutting on the inner bumper and the brackets mounting etc but not a great deal. Depends how savvy you are!

For the money mate they're great. Have been seeing really low intake temps on the last few hot days we had.

Could always show you mine if you were close enough. On me phone so dunno if you are!
