Help identifying alloys...please...

Featured Replies

I was under the impression the MPIs from 2001 came with alloys, but having seen a few Comfort trims on the road with steelies I was wondering if anyone could identify what I've got on mine? The previous owner was an unassuming lady, so I doubt she would've upgraded.

Do they look ok? I was considering getting a meaner set, but if concensus is that they're decent I might stick with them.

Thanks for being so quick! They feel ancient seeing them on that MKIII golf!

1- look in boot , under carpet for codes .

2- find post giving list of codes ( do a search on here).

Then you'll know what factory fit would be . ( Or not - my TDi codes are steels, yet I've got alloys, and car ,from my research was a lease car to an accident repair firm) .So go figure .

... and remember you may have to declare them on your insurance if non-standard...

Out of interest, are oem spiders 17" on fabia considered non-standard ?

I would have assumed so, but then again, I guess there wouldn't be anything stopping you from speccing them with Skoda on the car would there given its an available part from their catalogue ? Have Skoda ever fitted spiders to Fabia themselves ?

No 17's were never an option, as with all mods it's best to check with YOUR insurance company, they are all different.

Oh poo....I stupidly thought they were standard so I didn't think to mention it to the insurance folks. There goes my premium!

You seem to be confusing "non-Skoda" with "non-standard". For insurance you need to declare ALL changes from manufacturer's standard specification so any extras have to be declared even if they're Skoda ones fitted at time of delivery.

I've previously been advised by my then insurer that the 540 wheels fitted to my 525 BMW were OK because {a} they were BMW wheels and {b} they were the same size as the originals.

On my present car it's a bit difficult since some insurers don't recognise the SE as a standard model so I have to be careful getting insurance quotes - even then I have to declare parking sensors. On my bike the range of declarable items even runs to "stickers"...

No problem to the gents with horned hats. I even mentioned that I might add remote central locking .Again not a problem .

I run them as track wheels, tyres are cheap as chips for 195 50 15 ;)
