Time from order to factory build week issued

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the average time is to getting a factory estimated build week given to dealer, for a Superb estate SE 1.8 TSI 4x4..

I have a projected build date from my dealer, car ordered mid Jan and projected build date end March. Trackmyskoda still does not my build /order number on the system although they state that it can take up to 6 weeks to kick in. Getting impatient??

I was surprised to get such a close build week as I expected a 6 months wait.

Superb twindoor 2.0cr 170 elegance 4x4 with loads of extras!!!

Thanks for that uplift ,I was told 16-18weeks. The system seems to be a bit "hit and miss" so I am very sceptical about any information I get!!! here is hoping your dealer is right, best of luck.

Thanks for that. I was not due to replace my Superb till October but the vat free deal plus 0% finance made me decide to act on it asap ,estimating delivery sometime in July, so any time before that will be a bonus for me. Dealer (Specialist cars Dundee) are surprisingly good and enthusiastic and I get an e-mail most weeks keeping me updated.

I ordered mine 21st Jan, was told the build date could be first half of March. However, no confirmed build date yet after nearly 6 weeks...

140CR twindoor SE all standard no extras.

After watching several car manufacturing TV programs such as BMW megafactory, am convinced extras make no difference. Bottle neck is most likely the engine and transmission.

I ordered mine on 14th Jan, was told it would be 11 weeks aprox. My car was built week comencing 20th Feb and as I understand it is currently on way to port in Germany. On the current schedual I should have it in a 2-3 weeks which would have been 9-10 weeks after ordering. Very good I think.

I have ordered a 140CR twindoor Elegance with a few extras. I belive engines, gearbox (DSG), and 4x4 all effect build time, but I am no expert.

Also last week somebody explained built slots that dealers have on this forums, which helped to explain built times a lot!

Yes the dealers work on a quota system, Preston_Motors commented on another Superb thread:

We also have to work by quota. The way this works is every dealer is given build quotas for each model at the start of the year. E.g Factory can build 2 Superbs (depending on engine/gearbox) in, say, November, December they can build 1 but in January they can't build that particular dealership any, thus having a knock on effect in to February, once again if there is no quota then that model will get put back again.

Thanks for finding that Coops..... I couldn't!

Quota..... more like Satans Spawn!

Hope the thread that was re-posted has been useful though?

lucky you!

A friend of mine ordered a 4x4 with dsg on monday. Was told that it would take between 4-6 months, most likely 6 just because of the 4x4 and dsg.

I ordered a CR170 DSG estate with a load of extras mid-June last year and have a build date of week 14. Engine and 'box quoted as reasons for such a long wait. I'm not that hopeful that it won't be further delayed...perhaps I should go to church more often?

Get yourself a comfy chair, a good book, make yourself comfortable and sit back and wait - and wait - and wait -and wait!!!!

Ordered my 4x4 170 estate at the begining of September 2011 and projected date is June!!!!! :(

Sounds like 4x4 and DSG cause long build dates. Manual gearbox and non-4x4 seams to be reasonable wait times.

Don't like the sound of this, as I was about to order a 170 4x4 and was hoping for 3-4 months. Sounds like it could be more like 9 months!

Trouble is one of the attractions was the way the 4x4 drove when I had one on lease last year.

I wonder if we should be looking at nearly new used.....

If you have ordered a twindoor then you may be in luck. i have ordered a 170cr elegance 4x4 and I am on target for 3 months. From what i have read on this forum I must have gone to the correct dealer who had a space in his quota

Why don't you guys buy used??

No wait and all there in the flesh to test before you buy. Save more than VAT.

Ordered my Combi 170 4x4 elegance with extras at the beginning of October 2011 and took delivery at the end of first week of Feb. Can't understand why it's so hit and miss for some like Duffman who ordered in September and isn't expecting his car until June.

Got an e-mail from saleman at Specialist cars Dundee confirming build week 11 (Late March) for my Superb. Ordered 10th January. Is this due to their larger allocation than some?. I had anticipated changing cars late summer/early autumn but the vat free deal was too good to pass up on.

Salesman Graeme is totally on the ball and sends a weekly e-mail to keep me updated.

car ordered is..

Superb Hatchback 2.0 cr 170 Elegance 4x4, Petrol blue metallic, Luxons,Dimming mirror, heated rear seats, heated washer nozzles, heated screen, hill hold, MDI, park assist, spare wheel, sunset glass, sound upgrade,

Providing the car arrives on time I suspect the long wait must be soley for the estate since demand is so high for that variant (probably due to its better appearance) and also the estate in the diesel engine is not in the vat free deal. I have no problems with the style of the hatchback and never had an issue with the amount of stuff you can fit into the boot.

The excuse about lack of diesel engines and a longer wait for the 4x4 variant somehow seems untrue.

Otherwise try a dealer with a bigger allocation!! Interesting fact!!

Well I rodered mine today, and the dealer went away and checked likely lead time.

Initially he had said probably 6 months, but they came back with 3-4. I'll update when I have more info. It's a 4x4 170 estate so ought to have a long lead but seems reasonable.

I believe Haldex are supplying the 5th generation 4x4 system to VW and Skoda this year , that may account for the long lead time on Skoda 4x4 orders.
