We're selling one of our Fabia Vrs' and just wondered how easy it is to sell a car on Ebay? Is this the best place to sell? Have tried the local facebook pages but folk dont seem to want anything that exceeds £500! Any help would be appreciated

I bought my mkI Fabia on here.

I sold my last car through advertising on eBay, 5ks worth of car so it's not just for tyre kickers.

I bough my Fabia through Autotrader, but spent a lot of time looking on forums and Pistonheads also.

eBay is good but you get a lot of time wasters mate

I sold my last car on eBay (Seat Leon Cupra TDI) but didn't get what I wanted for it. With hindsight I'd have stuck with it on forums and let it go to someone who knew what they were buying, but tax etc were running out and I'd already bought my Fabia so took a bit of a loss on it as the buyer didn't really know VWs that well. It was remapped so it did smoke a little bit, and had a couple of little niggles which wouldn't have been major to sort and easily DIYable with the help of SCN or Briskoda, but because the buyer didn't know the platform and hadn't done his homework (IMO) he decided it was grounds to knock me down a few hundred quid. I'd have loved to told him to jog on, but it was the first solid offer I'd got for the car and if I'd had it about a week longer I would have had to mess about re-taxing/re-insuring it (meaning expense) or SORNing it (meaning it would have gone for even less as it couldn't be test driven).

So eBay can work, but it's really a last resort in my eyes, you will get people who email you full of interest but then never show up, and people who don't know the cars and will treat anything as grounds for negotiation once they're stood on your driveway as they'll hope you're desperate enough to say yes.

Yeh i think we'l put it on here and pistonheads not in much of a rush as insurance not due until May. Don't really want piles of time wasters tyre kicking but want it to go for a fair price. Any idea how much autotrader costs?
