Why you need a FMIC

Featured Replies

Just been lurking around on youtube and found this:

Demonstartes perfectly why you need a FMIC when you're racing or running big power. About 6 minutes in, the car has a massive power loss due to the air temps getting too high. A bigger intecooler will prevent (or at least delay) this from happening.

Not bad driving either, if it's someone on here. :-)

Is it just where the camera is or is the dv making a strange noise. Rather aggressive sound.

It's running cai by the sound of it

Yep sounds like a CAI. That was a seriously quick time for a VRS he knows the track well. Went round in a 260bhp Leon Cupra R a lot slower than that. Can't imagine that was just a k03s turbo!

Interesting it took 6 minutes before the intake temps killed the power, IME with a mapped car on the standard SMIC the power disappears a lot sooner than that

induction dump.. simples!

who ever that is knows the track well. getting every corner spot on!

EDIT: must press post and stop watching the video before other people have commented!

This is true, but how many of us will use the car on a track for continued full power runs, or just for that extra confidence you can overtake on a single carriageway with no problem?

249 with a standard IC? Doesnt seem right either.

Maybe its got an FMIC just not a very good one

Apparently it was "Octavia VRS!" old car

It was him mate,

OctaviavRS did the Compbrake 6 pot brake thread a few years back. last proper time he was on here He had just got back from there and had a little bump. he was telling how much it had all cost.

He was good at the ring, think he went regular.

Billy

recognised his car straight away lol, the rims gave it away mainly.

He lives near me, John I think is his name. Strange he left the site. Pretty sure he still has an Octavia as I sometimes cycle past where he lives.

Had KW3s etc on it, Was a lot quicker than my remapped only model.

I remember now - he span and did a couple of grand worth of Armco damage... ouch!

Apparently it was only on a standard SMIC when that video was taken though...surprising it pulled so hard for as long as it did. The speed he was getting up the valley at Klostertal when the power cut out is about what a standard VRS gets up there.

mine had a loss of power in EXACTLY the same part of the Ring.

i think it's more down to a change in atmospheric pressure on that section.

:) it's impossible
