Which Sat Nav - Admundsen or Kenwood DNX 520?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looking at replacing my stereo system in the Fabia which i picked up 2 weeks ago. Missing having a Sat Nav in the car which ive had in the last 2 cars ive owned.

I notice Skoda sell both the Admundsen and the Kenwood DNX 520 - but my question is which one is better (if they can be compared)?

Do any of them have any Con's?

Any help or advice greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

Paul / RockyvRS

I have amundsen + and I think its brilliant. Sat nav easy, quick & accurate. Only thing that could be better is the scrolling on the touchscreen when moving through all music on ipod.

The Kenwood does not have rear usb capability so your ipod, hdd or memory stick has to be on show and you have to unplug devices everytime you use them. That was a deal breaker for me. The VAG headunits and mdi is a far better solution as you can hide your equipment away and keep them connected. I went for this option in my Passat

The other option is Pioneer as they also do direct replacement VAG head units including touch screen DVD/Sat Nav units with rear usb connectivity.

We have this older unit in our tsi http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-pioneer-avic-f9110bt_p-24796.htm . There's now a f9210bt and f9310bt.

The BT unit is by Parrot so the usability and compatabilty is excellent, it will play DVD, ipod video etc, the ipod and hdd control system is great and the Nav function is excellent,

Thanks for all the replies

For me if you lose functionality of certain things, or you need to have cables sticking out the dash, then that puts the Kenwood out the question. Thanks for the comments about that Lee.

Whats the differences between the Admundsen and the Columbus then, which ones of them has more functions or is the better option?

Cheers

Paul

Not sure but Columbus is around £499-599 on eBay, I'm considering it for mine eventually

Columbus sounds good to me, might have to look into getting on then i think :)

Thanks for the feedback
