dmf and clutch change

Featured Replies

hello everyone

i have started to get a little slip of the clutch but my DMF is f**cked how hard is it to change them. has anyone got a step by step guide how to do one on a fabia vrs

thanks craig

I cannot offer any assistance I'm afraid (other than willingly looking at my Haynes manual to see what it might suggest)

However, for the benefit of others including myself would you be willing to share information on how the DMF symtoms are occuring, and perhaps clarification on the noise levels you get at idle ?

Just mine has started but it seems very miniscule and not enough to worry on changing it yet...but I could be wrong and mine could be in similar state to yours. I plan to video mine when it occurs.

Just wonder if you could do something similar on your phone etc or just capture the audio ?

Loads of youtube vids for Vauxhalls that sounds like bag of bolts, not much on Skodas though.

TBH mine doesn't sound anything like as bad as that, so just wondered to compare how bad yours sounds

mine car has 100k now so it is getting on abit but with my DMF on start up in the morning i push the clutch down and it sound like a single flywheel conversion lol. you can hear it when change gear and i can feel it threw the pedal so i think mine is does fooked so need a new one

My clutch started slipping a year ago on managed to get another 8000 miles out off it. I did mine at work on a ramp which makes the job a hole lot easier. I removed the subframe whic only like x4 bolts +your ball joints, Its quite an easy job really but dont think id like to do it on the floor.

I don't think I'd bother doing this myself !

I guess its all relative and once you know its fairly easy and as said, with the car raised is the way to do it easily.

But basically in Haynes manual, it confirms it consists of removing the transmission, clutch and then the flywheel obviously.

It requires basic stuff like removing the battery tray etc.

If mine needs doing I'm planning to drop into Unit 18, compared to yours though sounds like mine isn't urgent yet ! Still only a scent of a problem on my car, driving low speed in low gears (necessary today due to jams) isn't a problem.
