New car in the house

Featured Replies

SWMBO has the final straw with her 08 Ibiza on Friday. It has been parked up all week due to illness and yet again the back drums had locked on. This time the neightbour had to winch the car out the drive onto the road with his Disco before they would pop. It's been serviced, adjusted and cleaned serveral times but as soon as it turns damp they bind every time.

Plus she hates the radio controls and it is the noisiest car I've ever sat in.

So she's gone and bought......A BMW 116i SE on a 10 plate listed at £12.5k.

A recent trade in it's got 10k on the clock the comfort pack and servicing pre payed until 2015. Surprisingly BMW were willing to deal and we knocked them down about £1k from the asking price plus the finance offered was pretty reasonable.

Test drove it and I remembered the feel of rwd from my Dad's 318s. Feels very solid and well made, very quiet and smooth on the road. No sports suspension or big alloys so the ride was very nice even on runflats.

So one less VAG car in the garage.

I think they're fugly but don't tell SWMBO.

When i come to replace the Seat, i'd have loved a 1 series. They are nice to drive, comfy, great interior, i just can't get over how butt ugly they are, and how the new one has just got even worse.

The best cars i've ever owned have been beemers, but they just seem to be getting uglier and uglier as years go by. :(
