Replace front bumper on Superb II

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anybody have a rough idea what it would cost to replace the front bumper on my Superb II (Rosso Brunello)? Some numpty seems to have reversed into me (presumably with a towbar) and driven off without leaving a note or anything! I don't want to claim on my insurance, because it will drive the renewal price up. As the bumper is essentially plastic (or whatever - certainly not metal), I'm thinking it can't be easily repaired and the only thing to do would be to replace the whole unit. But if anyone has any better ideas, just let me know! The damage is a split / crack about 1.5" long, just above the cap you take off to attach a towrope. It's deep enough that you can see soem black polystyrene (or similar material) underneath. Ultimately I could live with the damage if repair cost is too high, but just thought I'd ask!

Many thanks,

Declan.

Probably a couple of options here - have it replaced like you say or could it be repaired, perhaps by a AutoRestore or one of those Smart repair type people?

Drop Preston Motors or Allams a note on here, they should be able to give you a replacement cost and if you're resonably mechanically minded guess removal and refitting would be manageable. Although I am sure that someone else could give you advise on that part.

Instead of dealers, you could always try breakers yards for replacements. It would save money and you could be lucky and get one in the right colour

Same thing happened to me last week.

Breakers yards don't seem to have intact front ends for mark 2.

I have replaced the smashed number plate but still need the lower chrome grille strip.

Phil
