Superb or Audi a6?

Featured Replies

What are your thoughts? I love my superb 170 dsg twindoor. One of my closest friends won't be seen dead in it and always talks about how the a6 is miles better.

He is a snob but secretly I think he likes my superb but is not willing to admit it!!!

Oh well, that's his loss. No free lifts for him then!

The Audi has the right to be "better," given equivalent specifications as the Superb, insofar as overall build quality and quality of, for example, carpets and leather. However, it's not better enough to justify the price difference and it goes nowhere near providing the same value for money as the Superb does.

We started off looking at A3s until I found out that the VW Golf used the same power train. That year, 2004, Skoda put it into the Octavia and that was it for me - a much bigger car for less money and hugely better specified. I followed the same principle when the Superb II came out and - needless to say - I've never had a problem with what badge is on the front of a car if I like it. :)

Frankly, I'd rather have a high spec three year old 530d Touring, rather than a new A6; that is, if I had a irrational aversion to Skoda's, which of course, I don't.

i looked at an A6 All-Road before i bought the Superb... and Couldn't justify the £11 grand extra in cost!

Familiar thoughts. A friend of mine is a SAAB fan like I am but he also has an Audi A6 Avant. When I told him that I was about to acquire SuperB II Estate as my company car, he started to tell about the test drive he had with SuperB II Estate 3.6V6 and compared it to his Audi.

He said that the quality impression he got while driving that SuperB wasn't up to Audi A6. The leather seats are not so good like they are in Audi A6, the plastics used for Skoda's interior are inferior to Audi etc. He told me he just couldn't get the same kind of feeling while driving the Skoda when he's driving an Audi.

I'm pretty sure that the majority of his opinions have something in common with the badge the car has on its bonnet ;) I told him that I'm not going to order a 3.6V6 but a Greenline. So I really don't care whether some of the interior details are inferior to Audi, I just want a spacious car which is good to drive and not thirsty. Then he stopped his whining :x

Well, to be honest: if I was about to purchase SuperB for myself, I wouldn't consider 3.6V6 because of the current fuel prices. I'd rather go for 2.0TSI or diesel engine. They're both turbos so there's some tuning potential over there ;)

Ten grand extra for an A6. OK it's got air suspension but......

That works out at £2,500 for every ring on the badge.

Only £10k I bet the spec/toys are no where as high as for the Superb.

Good point.

Superb plus decent family holiday plus better car.

If we don`t look at the price, just the car, then audi is better on my opinion, no question. But skoda offers more for the money. So.....

I would probably agree, but some people would still choose the skoda. The boot is bigger and there's more rear leg room. If we aren't mentioning price, I'm mentioning equipment. You get more in the skoda than the Audi. The fact that the skodas cheaper is a bonus on top of that
