Clutch & DMF Choice

Featured Replies

I know this has been discussed a lot but I have got brain ache trying to find the correct answer.

I want to replace my clutch and DMF as going to stage 1 re-map later in the year. At the minute both are ok but the car has done 80k so want to heve it renewed before the extra power is sorted.

From looking at Shark maps its around 160 - 170hp and around 290 ft/lbs torque.

Is there a clutch DMF combo that can handle around 350 ft/lbs just so I can build some redundancy into the system should I decide to add extra power later on.

Dont really want to be spending fortunes and dont want to go SMF, just want something so the car wont be right at the edge of tolerance once the map is put on.

Cheers

Look into sachs performance clutches and dmf's mate. They ain't cheap though!

Thanks for the reply. So what are the positives and negatives with going SMF. The car is an everyday driver so want a trade off between power and comfort.

Cheers

Stay dmf. Got a jabba Smf and i hate it. more vibration and a horrendous noise imho!!

I hear the standard LUK set up is rated to 350ftlb and its DMF. If i ever needed to replace mine i would go that route as its best value for money as I dont want stupid power.

My car is mapped and on 90k and my clutch and dmf seem strong.

I'd stick with DMF. I have got an uprated sachs clutch and bought a brand new sachs dmf (eurocarparts 234 quid using clutch15 code or speak to darkside developments which I did). This set up will be fine for stage 1 remap, I'm using it for when I eventually decide to go hybrid or stick with pd150.

I think the uprated stuff is a bit ott for the OP and many others. Afterall a standard clutch and flywheel will cope with 300ftbl + it would just be reduced in life from say 70k to 50k (just eg)
