Shiny shiny lightweight pulleys

So from what i've read, some say these will make the engine out of balance, some say not. The jury seems to be out as to whether the stock crank pulley has a rubber bit in it and if that is for damping or not.

Some have run similar pulleys for 80k miles with no issues. Badger5 had an engine literally explode on track shortly after fitting lightweight pulleys.

Some claim 5bhp for fitting them. Others say no power gain. All say engine revs more freely and feels better.

Some say replace all but crank pulley.

So really i'm confused.

imo i wouldnt touch the crank pulley in standard trim its design to remove some harmonics

i would recomend that anyone with a higher bhp car and running smf should consider a fluid damper as this will remove 99% of all harmonics

harmonics are bad and will desroy your engine

so its prob okay to change the alternator pulley and powersteering pulley but thats all!!!

+5hp with the shinyness? :giggle:

come along and have a go on the shiny show the shiny show..... give yourself a shiny!!

had light weight pulleys on my Cozzie and it gave a tiny more low down torque. other than that, it felt no difference. I didnt have the car much after that but i did hear it blew up at some stage.

Be interested to see the outcome.

Would there be any benefit to changing the other pulleys? Apart from the shiny - which you never see of course :)
