Ignition coil failure (2nd in a few days)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have 2004 Octavia VRS 1.8T

the ignition coil for cylinder No 3 failed last weekend, Monday was replaced spark plugs and ignition coil (the new one fitted to cyl No 2 and ingnition coil from cyl No 2 fitted to No 3), car was ok for one day and then ignition coil failed again for cylinder No 3 (2nd coil from old ones as new one was fitted to No 2). I got one more ignition coil and it will be fitted tonight but I am getting worried - could be problem somewhere else what is causing ignition coil failure for the same cylinder?

Thanking you,

Jana

Have you had the coil pack recall? Basically most Vrs have been recalled for new packs to be fitted free, contact your local dealer with your reg number to see if it applies to your octy

if you need coils and are outwith the recall pm me - i have 3 spare

What years did this recall cover? so if i ring my local dealer they will know what i am chuffing on about then when i say i have a vrs can you check to see if it needs coil packs?

sweet.

mines a 2003 and mine were replaced today under warrentey. Its all to do with the "letters" you have on your packs. :)

Yup they will ask for your reg number and will check it on the database. Its like a lottery tho as you may have newer coil packs from the factory
