heads up, VAG/Skoda being targeted by thieves in Milton Keynes

Featured Replies

Had some scumbags visit at 4 o’clock this morning. Kicked in the front door to get in to the house, while the family was asleep up stairs. Looks like they where after the keys for our VRS’s. They did get the wife’s keys but not mine. Managed to scare them off as they where trying to get into her car – no idea why he found it so hard but he was having trouble putting the key in the door lock, I guess remote door locks confused him or something. Sadly he took the keys when he legged it.

Couple of things of note: These guys targeted us for the Octavia’s when we live on a street full of Audi’s, BMWs and sorts of prestige brand cars, there’s even a guy with an old Ferrari further down the road. Would never have thought I’d see the day when that happened. They clearly had no concerns about noise or the dog so where very determined to get the cars.

As a side note, my local garage tell me it can take up to a month to get replacement barrels for the door and ignition and a bill of over £700 to do it. The car is now in secured storage of course. The recovery driver tells me he’s doing a lot of work in the MK area particularly BMWs and VAG at the moment, mostly keys taken.

Someone with VCDS can deprogram the lost key so even if they do return, it wont get them the car.

Sorry to hear this. Glad you & the family are okay! That's the main thing.

Good luck getting it all sorted out.

Utter ba****ds. I'm sorry but if that happened to me then if I could wake up quick enough I would not be able to help myself. Just so happens my snooker cue lives under the bed so it is very possible they would accidentally fall down steps that lead up to the house (honest officer).

I hope you get the car sorted, who would have thought these scally's would go for a Skoda over Beemers and Mercs.

Usually because low key, fast and to use in another crime. An Audi, BMW etc would stand out.

I have heard of this type of crime before, the cars are stolen the plates and road tax are changed from a new EU member country car that is already in the country that has been totaled or they will run it as a clone car.

Unbelievable! Really annoys me that this sort of thing happens, obviously the well being of you and your family is the main thing, but it is just so unnecasary! ******s!

And now you will end up paying the price along with your neigbours as your insurance premiums will go up!

Shocking news gutted to hear! I have not looked in a while but all my old insurance policies when I read small print had cover for keys/locks/ignition barrel replacement if lost/damaged/stolen. Don't know if you want to go down the insurance route if it would be worth it after whatever excess you have. VCDS route sounds like a winner though!

Check your home insurance and bank accounts/credit cards etc. a lot of them have key cover. They can get replacements much quicker than that if they need to. Bad luck pal.

Sorry to hear about this but glad you and your family are okay.

Really boils my pi$$ that people can't have nice things without some scumbag trying to take it from you!!!! :@

Think i probably will need to get the wheel clamp back out the shed,Thought when i got rid of my Impreza these days would be over.Since having the vrs i have not really bothered with any added security devices.

Looks like that may well change. :(

Sorry to hear about this

Awful you can't own something nice without having some good for nothing low life trying to steal it, makes my blood boil
