Rear Badges

Featured Replies

Thinking of removing my FABIA & vRS logo badges from the rear of my car and replacing them with the mk2 type. 2 questions.

How easy do the old ones come off and does it usually leave a mark on the paint.

Secondly do the mk2 badges fit the mk1 boot ok, i.e is the contour of the boot the same.

Cheers

Check out the pictures of my car in the members section. I put mine on in the MkII style as well but you can do whatever you like once the originals are removed. Google search vRS19TD or check photobucket under the same name for mine as well.

Removing was a pain in the ar*e, just make sure you heat the area with a hairdryer and it makes it a little easier.

Once removed, i just cleaned the area up and then used T-Cut. :)

Were there many marks in the paint after removal or was it like new after T cut

In my opinion, it adds a little something to the car, especially having the badges on both sides and nicely finished off with a Briskoda.net sticker under the reg plate. B):D

Absolutely like new. Other members had removed their badges and i used their ideas on how to remove and what to do. Once T-Cut, it was like there had never been a badge there.

Cheers. Looks like a job to go and do for Saturday morning.

Just to add, i found using a bug sponge or an old toothbrush worked with removing the old sticky from the old badges, along with some bug and tar remover from Halfords.

WD40 for breaking down the adhesive. It won't harm the paint

Stong fishing line pulled behind the badge (think cheese wire) will remove them without damaging paint.

Thanks for all the replies. Removed all the old badges and polished up like new. Now to get the replacements.

Any supplier suggestions for the new badges or is it main dealer only.

Thanks again.

I got mine from dealer as wanted to be sure i was getting the MkII Fabia vRS badges.

You havn't got the part numbers handy for these have you? Did you also change the front badge?

The parts guy did write it down for me but i can't find the paper.

Having searched, these are the best i can find but i would check with the garage. I just phoned and asked for the MkII Fabia badge and front and rear vRS badges. I am going to do the front badge but managed to snap it when trying to remove the plastic bit at the back but a helpful member on here said i don't need to remove it and to remove the black plastic off the grill instead.

You'll need to get some glue from Halfords (Araldite) to stick the new badge to the grill.

Rear Fabia badge - 5J6853687739

Rear vRS badge - 1Z0853687AHLAQ

Front vRS badge - 5J0853679LAQ

The vRS badge for the rear is for the Octavia i think but i could be wrong. Might be, 5J0853687AHLAQ??

I used dental floss on my felicia to debage, worked a treat! Although I did need to use a bit of rubbing compound to completely remove the glue. Given how cheap it is it's not to bad a thing really.

Did people reading this know the later Mark1 FABIA badge is different to the earlier one?

I knew there was something missing from my life!!!!

Reviving this old thread, I found the easiest way to remove badges has always been to boil the kettle and pour the hot water directly on the badge for around 15 seconds. Mine simply pulled off with my fingers after that, no glue left on the paintwork either. Follow up with a bit of T-cut and your ready for the new badges!

Did the boling hot water do anything to the paint work i.e. make it buble etc?

Have you ever felt bodywork on a hot summers day? I would say its quite close to boiling.

Doesn't even need to be boiling water. You can use a hair dryer also.

That's how i did mine, hair dryer and an old plastic card.

Just debadged the rear of my S3 today :)

Warmed it first with a hairdryer, then

I used Kevlar thread to get behind it and cut through the foam tape.

Pulled off the worst of the remaining tape (easy when warm).

Wiped over with some Tardis to remove the last bit of residue

and polished clean...

Badge, what badge?

Sweet! I'll give all these recommendations a go.

Cheers guys
