feedback and dyno graphs before and after dpf removal/remap PD170

Featured Replies

Sick of my dpf light coming on, and occasionally going into limp mode so went to shark for a dpf delete. As the car had already been remapped I wasn't bothered about more power but just wanted rid of the dpf. Rob at Shark wanted to do some dyno runs at no extra cost, which I agreed to

Here is the first run- for comparison a printout of a standard PD170 was used for comparison

It's obvious my car is mapped as the torque is significantly higher, as is power up to 3000 rpm, but it tails off after that, presumably due to the blocked DPF, and peak power is actually down on stock, at 174 bhp

The dpf was removed, and this restored a healthy shape to the power curve, at almost 190bhp.

Although I was happy enough with this, I was given the option of a stage 2 map to get the most out of the dpf removal, and this yielded an extra 20 bhp over the previous map with dpf removed- see graph below

So- came in with 174bhp- came out £669 lighter and minus a dpf but with an extra 34bhp- thanks to Mikko, Rob and Mark- great bunch of chaps.

For info- my car is 5 years old and has done 95,000 miles

Feels much more linear in power delivery

Wife has an Audi TT with the 2.0TFSI engine so might get that done next

With Shark being down the road from me this might be my next port of call. Im getting sick and fed up of the DPF constantly regenning and making the car feel like its running lumpy

Makes a massive difference even on a remapped car

If yours is standard will be even more noticeable

Has anyone had a DPF delete on a CR engine?

...and peak power is actually down on stock, at 174 bhp.

I thought stock bhp on the PD170 was 170bhp?

170PS or 167.6hp.

Thats the book figure. The standard car dynoed as comparison was 182 which is fairly typical. Individual cars will vary

I've recently had my A5 3.0 TDi for the same treatment with the addition of a milltek exhaust and an EGR delete at Shark Performance. It went in a dull and linear to drive, its come out sounding like a V10 lambo and goes nearly as well

Lovely and quiet driving about when you don't want it to make any noise, hardly any smoke. It's completely transformed the car to drive aswell as sound. One very happy customer.

ah so it was you that had the quad milltek and s5 valance? Nice!!

Yeah it looked ace and I didnt actually see it finished

I bet it sounds awsome

I can vouch for this. Went for a spin in it yesterday and it was awesome. Hugely fast and sounds in no way like a diesel. I want a car with that engine!

mine dyno'd at the same 182bhp

My pd dynoed at 198hp with just a k&n and about 20,000 miles but different dynos, different days etc

I have a dpf delete and remap on my CR170 Superb , haven't dyno'ed it though. The place that did it reckoned 210-215 , it feels pretty stout and nice linear power . My mate has a 210hp petrol A5 and he cant keep with it

If that was a Dynocom/dynojet maybe it came out with 198

DynoDynamics are usually the heartbreaker dyno's, they are notorious with being the most accurate and upsetting poeple who think they were running more power

It was a sun but you cant compare any dyno, ive seen lots of variation even with DD dynos as only some tuners use the traction bar and that makes a difference even using the same dyno on different days will yield different results

Of course you can compare dyno tests its well known and seen by myself

Same car, same days, same gear but different dyno you will see differences some small and some shocking

I know 5 well known mappers highly regarded on the tuning scene with dynos of different makes and there are many tricks to get out more BHP figures

They all agree its notorious for certain dyno makes to over read

my advice would be to use an independent dyno just to see the BHP/Torque figures

Dyno's are only ever useful to get a before and after figure , in which case use the same one or for bragging down the pub

Most people only ever consider the peak hp figure which is largely useless as an indicator of how quick the car is or how it drives , both of which are key and you don't need a dyno to tell you either

my golf pd170 gave a result of 208 bhp with dpf in place

my cr vrs 170 dsg came out at 212 bhp with dpf in place

both stand stage 1 remaps from p- torque
